Not sure the exact number, but since 2021 the capitol area/NOVA/MD now has something like 20,000 active duty troops stationed. Not including DC/VA/MD guard. They have beefed up the QRF forces in the area massively. And quietly.
And betting the Officers, NCO's... heck, probably even the privates.... weren't picked by accident for those assignments. DC is a fortress.
It's never a good sign for the health of a nation when the political class feels the express need to hide behind combat troops and secret police.

There are some very red pockets in kali. Most of the state actually. Like anywhere, the big cities fuck the politics.
