Tried shooting last weekend with a crappy bag.... Arrg.

Sent money for a "Both" today. looking forward to blaming my poor shooting on the wind or ammo instead of the bag (since its never me ;))

Flush with bags after a big production run in prep for the training season. I can have the "Answer" in your hands and under your rifle before you can digest all the testimonials in this huge thread. ;-]

A refresher for those of you who have gotten too far separated from what's important. It's easy to get lost in the testimonials and unboxing joy associated with receiving this / these bag(s) in the mail. LOL.

THAT good.

READ this and reach out. I can improve your shot-to-shot precision and eliminate your need to adjust your bag between shots.

What size bipod are you using on the bench with the Compromise bag?
Well, I follow Taylor’s advice (I think) by having the rear bag set the bipod’s height. Not the other way around.

I’m 5’10”, and I find that sitting at my range’s benches and employing Frank & Mark’s bench shooting technique that I need a lower bag. A taller bag makes me have to sit up too straight. I suppose if you have a low bench and a tall stool I could use the Answer bag?

The technique, if you are not aware, is to mimic prone shooting. Sitting, you lean forward, getting your shoulders way out in front of your hips. Also you square your shoulders up to the target (don’t do the traditional angle thing).

Anyway, for me, a bipod that goes up to 8.25-9” works fine with the Compromise bag.

Thanks, I appreciate the detail. I have a Harris bipod of similar length. I tried to shoot as you described last week at the range first time out and the RO didnt like it. Made me move to the side of the T bench ...which sucked.

The two ranges that I belong to have two slightly different style benches. The main diff being the width of that T on each side.

The above range’s T-width (lol) is wide enough for me to use as-is.

This range’s T-width is too narrow, so I rotate the bench around.

Since I’m a member of both ranges, I go when the general pubic (and RSO’s) aren’t there. I can do what I want.

Thanks for the pictures. They help. I shoot at Ben Avery, AZ State range so strict ROs, and the benches are set for competitive Benchrest shooters with their expensive race guns. I do like that wooden bipod "brace"...ingenious idea.

A drummer's throne is your friend no matter what bag you use. Up/down and spin around. Also, easy on the buttocks. lol

Oh yeah, I know about those. The benchrester’s friend!

But I lug enough stuff to the range as is lol. Trying to minimize. At one point I was rolling in a giant Milwaukee Pack Out.

Ok, not THIS much, just the two bottom units. Fricking heavy!! I’m down to a smaller backpack and a rifle. Sometimes I also bring a heavy X-shaped sandbag, but I’m trying to just use a bipod.

I use a foam kneeling pad for my butt haha

Travel safe, Marc. And remember, Shiner Bock and smoked brisket really are good for your health no matter what the doctors say! haha

Cheers

Received a query from a shooter in Spain, requesting information on shipping one of my bags to him there. I calculated shipping for him so he can make a buying decision and the shipping was greater than the cost of the bag by $1.50 additionally he would pay duties on his end of $11.50.

Just goes to show you how some of these countries are charging their citizens to receive goods from the United States. His duty was about 20%.

He chose to wait until he travels to the United States this summer to receive his bag at his hotel. Great call. I have done this for other shooters in the past and it seems to work well as long as I have plenty of notice in order that I may have a bag prepared to ship.

Doing what I can to get these fantastic bags under your rifles

I will not let you down

Travel safe, Marc, and have a great time. Tell Frank (and Laura if she will be there) I send my regards.

And these bags are great. I was just talking to @Nik H the other day and both of us have a metric ton of bags but use the Answer all the time now. Eh, maybe Nik uses the larger or smaller bag but I think he uses the Answer the most...I certainly do and I also have all three.

I sold most of the bags I owned. I use all three of Marc's bags regularly. They all have their niche.

Everyone should give them a try and you'll be a convert.

Another full line of Answer bags under precision rifle students' rifles. This weekend was in Iowa.

The"Answer fixes problems you didn't know you had.

I'll be shipping again on Thursday, the 12th

Sometimes, like on an unergonomic bench when using a sandbag, I need more than just one!
These pads are genius, here I was thinking I'd like to get a smaller bag than the compromise for benches around here the tend to be all concrete and the table height is much higher than usual compared to the concrete seat height. Not only would these probably help fix the issue but be a metric shit ton more comfortable.

The only downside is I look like some hobo gardener showing up with all those kneeling pads lol

Ha!

I actually thought of trying to use "balance pads" they are in various sizes but usually 2-2.5" thick and really dense foam designed to be stood on to activate more balance muscles.

However, I do feel like the kneeling pads would allow for more flexibility to adjust thickness.

The ones in your link look interesting…but they might not be as hard as you think. The pics show people’s feet sinking into them…I think they create a bit of instability so the user gets better at balancing?

It would be nice to have a hard 1.5” to 2” pad and then supplant with the .75” pads to get to one’s perfect height. I tend to use three to five .75” pads for my front sand bag (usually four) and one to 4 for the seat (almost always only one).

The seat pad is great in winter for obvious reasons.

I did try to find those quite hard weight-lifting room or horse stall rubber pads, but I gave up. That material would be heavy, however, which is the whole point that I went for the foam kneelers as they are light but kinda hard (for kneelers). I was using .75” maple blocks before…what a pain!

This sort of hard-ish foam would might work, but I can’t find the right thickness:

I did try a water kickboard for the thicker first layer, but it’s kinda slippery. Hard, though.

One tip is to use that grippy shelf liner if you’re getting slipping. Works under or between pads and also between the sandbag and gun. I admit I don’t fuss with it anymore. I guess it’d work under a rear rear too.
