I have become engrossed in shoe and boot making videos. Repairs, resoles, new shoes, restoration and polishing…. Not even sure why but I love videos like this.

JK Boots is one of the 4 main PNW boot companies that famously make smoke jumping, fire fighting and logging industry boots. They still make nail down boots in the $6-800 range but recently began making this stitch down construction general work boot called the 300 series at just under $400.

I found out years ago, boots matter and Walmart or Dicks isn’t the place to get boots that will last and feel like an extension of your feet.

Still made by hand and very high quality for a different use using less intensive techniques. I will be buying a pair of these.

I don’t know, but Whites and Nicks are the only place I can find an 8-1/2 F with a high arch. Otherwise it’s 10 Wide with orthotics insoles.

George Santos was not convicted for his faked resume. And equivocating his crimes to what Leticia James did? Really? Every democrat does what Santos did. Every single one. But they hammer him. And you have a problem with his pardon?

It's tough to say your party is the party of transparency when you are the one not releasing the video of the FBI giving your guy $50,000.


George Santos was convicted of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, which included filing fraudulent campaign finance reports, embezzling funds from donors, and stealing identities.

Now that Santos is pardoned- does he still need to pay back the $500k in restitution and fines?


Why do we tolerate this crap from either side?

I posted here a few weeks ago that my bride had made some candied peppers. Some jalapeños and others in a sugar fueled elixir of joy. But, in a jar by themselves, secretly holding the potential of a male Tyrannosaurus that could breathe WWII mustard gas was a small jar of candied Carolina Reaper peppers.

Now folks know I like peppers. I eat a LOT of jalapeño and other chilies and my wife’s regular candied peppers include jalapeño, banana and pimento peppers. They’re delicious and I love them.

The small jar….

I put 2 of the small shriveled orange red orbs on my plate with some eggs and sausage this morning. I cut a small piece of the pepper and ate it with my eggs.

What happened next isn’t entirely clear. I remember the pain starting in my jaws and tongue followed by snot, tears and prayer. I was overwhelmed, over matched and over …. Just over.

To call this hot, is like calling gasoline flammable. I struggled to breathe, I couldn’t see, I was nauseated. Then in a hard to grasp point of time and space, my stomach revolted. It felt as if my stomach was being punched, stabbed, burned. Pain, serious pain in my gut had me doubled over. Was a rat gnawing at my gastrointestinal walls? Was this how it was going to end?

I found myself in the bathroom heaving, hoping the offending nightshade would come out of me and cease its assault. I am ashamed to say I lost the fight with my intestinal fortitude and my pants paid a heavy cost.

I remember when the pepper came up. I knew victory was possible now if I could hold on. My stomach was still being stabbed by what must be Reaper juices but the main offender was now out. My throat was stinging anew, the pepper fought on its way to the porcelain bowl and wasn’t giving me an inch. Tears streaming, snot hanging like a rope I looked up at my wife who was trying desperately to not guffaw and offer support to the man she respects and honors every day. She uttered “I’ll throw them out”.

Yes. Yes you will.

Those look like nice boots!
Also check out Franks Liberty boot. They saved cost with machine stitch or some such thing for a retail price of $350ish. Friend got a pair and loves em. I dislike his lack of a pull loop, but looks like they offer that now also.

Frank was the manager at Nick's for a long time and when he struck out on his own, he too a bunch of guys with him. I went down a boot rabbit home a couple of weeks ago. Only trouble is I don't like lug soles with heels and want a lighter weight boot. I'd love to find a super quality light weight boot with a flat sole.

I’m no fan of George Santos, but I don’t believe he was pardoned. His sentence was commuted. Which is a different thing. I believe Trumps reasoning, whether we agree with it or not, was that Santos was serving a 7 year federal sentence for a crime that is common amongst our political class. I personally know someone who killed someone and only did 7 years.

Again not defending him. Just clarifying the facts.

We should not tolerate it from either side, except when one side tries to enforce the law they get accused of tyranny, while our side immediately throws dude under the bus as soon as the dirt comes out. One side openly threatens to kill people, defends and celebrates those who actually murdered people, outright oppresses our side but here you are saying that both are the same. That’s where I’m vehemently disagreeing with you. We are not the same. Not even close. Except rhinos.
