Guys I have a short poll that I was forwarded from our Team rep at S&B. I would like your help with if possible. Please just answer the two questions and leave any comments if you feel like it. This is specifically for S&B and more geared to LE/Mil users but even if you don't have an S&B scope your votes are welcome especially from our LE/Mil members.

From S&B:

Schmidt&Bender is constantly striving to provide our customers with quality equipment which fits their needs and requirements. In order to do this, we are asking you to please take a few minutes of your time to fill out this survey.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I would like the illumination more like the PH GenII XR, rather than just a small portion of the Crosshair. Holding off is difficult at very lowlight with the current illumination.

I have the 5-25 and don't know if other models are different.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I almost never use the illumination on any of my scope, but yet I wouldn't buy a model without it if they had the same model that did.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I voted, rarely use the illumination, but when its needed its better to have than not.

No on the 275 savings, although if it was 400+ I could go with out.

Just to clarify, I have a S&B 4-16 GenII XL and I like the way it illuminates.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I use my illumination occasionally to often so I voted occasionally. If I'm spending the $$ for a S&B it's a pretty serious use rifle and I want the capability of illuminated reticle even if it was a $400-500 discount for the non illuminated. When you need it, you need it.

On a rifle that was strictly a target gun it would be a different story, but then again that rifle most likely wouldn't be getting a S&B anyway.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I had to go with a Non-Illiumnated Model due to the fact I have a left handed bolt action. Please S&B move the illumination on top of the eye piece like the new Swarovski Z-6i or better yet remove the dial at the current position and place a digitial on/off button on the outside of the parallex adjustment. Either way make it so everyone can use it reguardless of the left hand or right hand.....

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

S&B needs to light up much more of the reticle , than the current center X , and have a wider range of adjustment .

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I have to agree with the general consensus here Rob. I don't see myself using the illumination all that much yet at the same time, it's nice to have it in case you need it. A savings of $275 wouldn't be enough incentive for me to go with a non-illuminated scope.

I also agree that more of the reticle should be lit up, not just the center.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I have illumination already, so I would be interested in a scope without illumination for range use. However, for hunting and comps, which I hope to do both this year, I would want the illumination on the scope.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

Id rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

In that scenario, my $2,500+ optics would be useless because my anus tightened up at time of purchase and I made a stupid decision.

S&B should not allow me to make that mistake at time of purchase... BUT your view may vary...

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

Better to have and not need. You never know when you're going to get called out in the middle of the night. Alot of the people Police deal with at night wear dark clothing. Nice to have the Ill ret to contrast the cross hairs.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I think S&B are testing the waters for a non-illuminated version of one or more of their scopes, like you could buy just a few years ago. That doesn't mean there would be no illuminated scopes, only that there would be a choice.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

If they are going to redesign their scopes for models without illumination then maybe they can move the illumination knob on their illuminated models.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I have any rarely use the illumination on my 5-25. Having said that, it would be an improvement in my eyes to illuminate more of the reticle (my GenII XR only illumintates holdovers 4 mils down x 1 mil wide, even though this isnt particularly a S&B reticle).

At such a low savings margin on a non-illuminated model, Ide pay the extra $250 for illumination.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I used Illumination one time last year to shoot a trophy Axis Buck at sun down, could not have made the shot with out the Illum. With that said, Saving 275 and missing a trophy is not a trade off I am willing to take.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

I use my illumination occasionally and agree that it's better to have it and not need it regardless of the savings. Now if we can just get the MSR reticle with illumination on the milling marks and center, i'd have the S&B of my dreams.

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

They need a LH Bolt friendly illumination system. Only reason I don't have a SB now.

I use Illum in daylight and night ... depending on the target, if the color is very close or making it difficult to see my crosshairs i will turn it on...

Re: S&B Illumination Poll

Last year I probably used the Illum feature 7 times. Yes I hunt with the AW

. I never would of made those shots otherwise. My next S&B will have Illum.
