OK I screwed one up, its my fault, now how do I fix it? I installed a 20 MOA rail on my 10/22 target rifle shot great with lapua ammo .5 at 50yds , then went to slinging them all over the paper, thought it needed cleaning, and to my supprise the rail was loose. took her apart and the threads came out with 3 of the screws. Now what do I do? i dug around and found a set of leupold rifleman rings. the top screws look similar but bigger, anyone know what thread this is. maybe I can retap the reciever and use these. I am totally sick only 1 box of ammo through her.

Forgot to add use some loctite. At least a little blue including a little on the base after you clean it with some solvent.

I don't have a ruger receiver on my 10/22 but I believe the threads are tapped to 6-48 which should be the same as this fellows Thompson Center Prohunder. Looks like all he did was re tap the the threads and then used slightly oversized bolts (.146x48) from Brownells. Check out the link http://thepackingrat.net/2007/09/18/a-thread-repair-solution-that-saved-my-ass/

If the threads are completely fubar you can try going with a scope rail with oversized holes like the one here.
