I've only changed the head with another SLIK item to have a little better control, and painted everything with krylon..

Re: My PRS tripod painted with krylon

Nice setup you have there. Looks like the spyder mesh blends pretty good from far.

Is that the Slik model AF 1000 E?
Do you use a spotter with it too?

Re: My PRS tripod painted with krylon

Got a question for you guys.

Is PRS just priced awesome or crappy?

If its not crappy, are the 300 dollar ones that much better?

I have not used a tripod but would like to try. Not willing to spend 400 bucks to experiment. Not willing to spend 130 to find out I like but should have spent more.

Sorry if you think its a thread jack but the system looks unique and that you have some experiance with it. Thanks

Charlie

Re: My PRS tripod painted with krylon

I just put one on order so I hope it's not 'crappy.'

The PRS are Slik bipods sold with a shooting cradle and maybe slightly modified in other ways- not certain about this last part. If you look up Slik tripods on the net (Bird Forums, Photo Equipment Stores) they receive good reviews.

Sniper's Hide has a few posts of people using and comparing tripods. Searching for 'tripod' (go to google and search for: tripod site:www.snipershide.com) brings up a thread that T. Burkes of TAB gear made a while back comparing the PRS' to the Alamo Four Star and a Manfrotto.

The PRS tripods are not "crappy" by any means. I carry one daily in the trunk of the cruiser. Great price, great piece of kit and the guy who sells them is nothing short of a class act. Buy with confidence

Re: My PRS tripod painted with krylon

Just want to clear it up. I am in no way calling it crappy. I am asking for advice. I just wanted to figure out how they are priced so much better than say a manfrotto. Thanks For the advice guys.

Re: My PRS tripod painted with krylon

PRS tripods are priced well because the owners are lovely, honest people with a keen interest in offering their products as a service to our community unlike the huge brand generic tripod / camera companies who are more interested in profit margin and outsourced manufacturing.

Buy one and be happy with it, they're worth every cent.

Can't ask for a much better endorsement than that. Thanks for the info. Should be placing an order this week. Happy Thanksgiving

Re: My PRS tripod painted with krylon

I've started to use PRS tripod recently, they are very good, very stable, if you use the tripod also with the rifle sling you are be able to have a very good platform.

I bought 2 of them one long and the other one medium, I'm happy with them..

the best thing is their weight, about 1 kg..... important thing to remember if you have to walk with all your equipment.

if you buy other adaptors you can use also other devices like a spotting..

Re: My PRS tripod painted with krylon

Very nice set up. That turned out very well.
