Seekins 308 AR platform

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

I have a entire 308 platform designed. I just need to make it! We finally have our new cnc running, instead of doing about 7 sets of rings a day 700k later i can now do about 50 sets a day! This machine will run all night long, untended so now i can get caught up and start building 308 stuff

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

Glen,

Can't wait for this. What a great reason to spend $$$. It was good to see you guys at the Ironman. Hope to see more of you in the future.

Take care, Craig

Sounds nice

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

We needed to make the jump for sure. I can leave every product we build set up all the time so all we need to do is tell the machine what to build and when. No more waiting for machine time, re setting up and all that stuff. Just GO..I want everything in stock all the time. It seems like it would be a first in this industry, but someone has to do it

We will be at allot of 3 gun shoots this year and hopefully next year i will be good enough to shoot all of the 3 gun nation shoots. Got lots of practicing to do!

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

Sorry, I promise you that when its released there wont be anything comparable. I have been doing all of the new product ideas i had for the 308's on our 223 platforms and testing quite a bit. I have a few other tricks up my sleeve for the 308's too.

Our 308 program went from just offering uppers/lowers to also including complete rifles and now complete rifle packages for specialized use. I certainly don't blame anyone for not wanting to wait but please understand that this project somewhat exploded and i want it to be perfect, and available before i say its ready.

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

I have to say I am excited to see one. I have seen many of your other offerings and the attention to detail is nothing short of astounding!

Not to be a douche but do you have plans on offering it in .260 or 6.5 creedmoor at some point in the future?

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

Glenn,

Looks really nice, I think it would be smart to keep with a sr-25 type lower design. This is the standard in the Military right now and I think if I was to design a lower I would base mine of it.(This may allow possible mil contracts for integration in current and future systems). Your ar-15 lowers are the best, and I am sure your .308 ones will follow your reputation.

.243/6 and 6.5 creedmoore and whatever else we think might make a fun rifle and fit into the magazine

Thanks for understanding. I promise it wont disappoint and it will be SR25 compatible !

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

Sounds great, I can only imagine all that goes into such a in depth project. I've got your rings, base, and dbm on my rifle right now all are top self. I expect nothing but the best from anything Seekins releases

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

Just to humor us Glen... We talking 1 month mayyyybe... 6 months... Next year? Any ballpark would keep hope alive for me!

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

Glenn, I'm excited about your project to produce a superior, or at least a "done right" big chassis AR and so I want to offer praise, encouragement and success. A failing, in my view, shooting the ammo I like to load, has been the flawed firing pin hole and firing pin in many big AR's. The hole is too large, allowing primer extrusion. And the hardness level of the bolt and lugs seems low. A bolt and barrel lug that are actually enhanced would be a huge improvement on current art. Maybe three large, or two very large, lugs? They worked well in the Garand but of course that was a distinct design.
And if an improved recoil design were thought up...well that'd just be snazzy too. The forward lurch of the bcg disturbs shooting position and trace sighting. Maybe something hydraulic or at least a carefully selected spring? And every AR should have an adjustable gas tube seems to me. I'm looking forward to this new rifle.
Thanks Glen for making us a big AR that works. Make it shoot 6mm 105 grain bullets 3100 fps, .5mn and I will buy one....if the price is right.

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

I should be shooting and refining the prototype mid march. Depending on how that goes...

BCG is where im focusing allot of attention. What if i had a way to cut that weight in half? Cant say how but
smile.gif

Adj gas system needs to be on every gas gun that can use it. All of our 223's will come with adjustable gas blocks. I am working on one now that has the ability to be adjusted externally without tools and without burning your fingers. It will be on the 308's and so will the proper buffer system.

Making the bolt carrier lighter has been done before, however a lot has to be done to the gas or piston system to adjust the proper dwell time of the bolt locking and unlocking. Be interesting to see what Glenn comes up with, I have no doubt that he has something innovative up his sleeve.

Whats so special about their upper that you want their upper and someone else's lower? If you were building a precision gun wouldn't you want every part to mate up as perfect as possible?

THIS!!!!!!!

Glen, it's no surprise given what excellent products you make, let alone being an election year!

Can't wait for my iRMT-3 to arrive, hats off to you and your team, love to see what you've got in store for the BCG.

Re: Seekins 308 AR platform

Good things are well worth waiting for (and God knows I don't have the money in the coffers right now to afford another semi-auto)!!

Keep the whip cracking on those guys working round the clock and we'll see something on this project from you when the timing is right.

Glen is going for the Mil spec standard in terms of the upper and lower. I can see it is built to be compatible with an SR-25 and MWS . Armalite it also moving to the same direction by phasing out B model guns. Ruger is also compatible. As for the pins sizes, I am will to bet that Glen is using a standard pin size vs what LMT and KAC use for their guns. Can't wait to see a finished up one.

Looking at the lower it looks like an AR10 style. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'm looking forward to getting a set.

Finally! I have been waiting to see more of this 308 since 2011! Looks great.

Spoke to Glen and Shiloah a couple weeks ago at Ironman. Shiloah said the .308 is still in the works.

Still ironing out all the wrinkles.
