Where to get Savage parts

I have all the parts for a 338 Ultra mag but am rethinking it. I am thinking that a smaller caliber would be a little better choice.

Where can I get the bolt heads and what not? The base gun is one of the 300 Ultra Mag savages if it matters

Are they pretty easy to deal with? Had a weird run in quite a while ago and havent been back. I know there arent many people that know more about the platform than Fred.

Very easy to deal with,if you can get through to them.Their phone is always busy, but they do answer if it rings.Just ordered a comp trigger and load ramp last week.I've never had a problem with them and they've never not had a part I was looking for either.

Re: Where to get Savage parts

I'd get the bolt parts from MidwayUSA or Brownells. If you dont already have a barrel Jim @ Northland Shooter Supply is great to do business with. SSS has horrible customer service.

Re: Where to get Savage parts

On my .338 win mag, the action screw heads stripped and the extractor/ejector both needed replacing so I called Savage directly. Gave them my serial number and they came up with my exact model number. They pulled the parts for me and took my credit card number. It was easy and they were friendly and a few days later I had my parts.

jim @ northland shooter supply is the way to go.

Id never try SSS again.

Re: Where to get Savage parts

I have dealt with Jim before and he was very easy to deal with. I just know if he carried the bolt parts and havent had a chance to call him.

As far as ordering from savage everything is serial number based so I just assumed I couldnt order a .473 bolt head for for Ultramag
