Possum Hollow?

Re: Possum Hollow?

I ordered one 10 days ago. I haven't gotten it yet, nor have I even received confirmation of shipment. If it shows up soon I'll be sure to share how well it works.

Re: Possum Hollow?

Where did you order from?

Re: Possum Hollow?

At the urging of my brother slickrick0999 and a reloading tutorial on this site, I ordered one. I have no complaints. It is fast and accurate. I have a Wilson(nice piece of equipment), but it is slow.

I ordered mine from www.thecleaningandreloadingstore.com and shipping was fast.

I ordered mine from thecleaningandreloadingstore.com, same as nashlaw above. I believe MidwayUSA also has them, but they don't have every different caliber range in stock. This is splitting hairs a bit, but they are cheapest from thecleaningandreloadingstore.com.

Nashlaw, how long ago did you order yours? I guess I should probably call the place and see what happened to my order. It might have slipped through the cracks during the holidays.

Re: Possum Hollow?

I've been using them for many trouble free years. Great inexpensive tool. Just make sure you bump your shoulders back before cutting to length as these reference off of the shoulder.
One of these days i'll get a Giraud to replace them.

Re: Possum Hollow?

I've used the 223 and the 308 since last spring. The 223 runs great but the 308 leaves chatter marks in the brass.

Are you cutting the cases using it by hand or are you chucking it up in a drill or drill press?
If my memory serves me right, between me & a few of my friends we have the following cutters:
3 each 223 cutters
4 each 308 cutters
1 each 6.5x47 lapua cutter
1 each 6.5 grendel cutter
2 each 22-250 cutter
1 each 6mm XC cutter
1 each 243 cutter

None of us has had any issues yet but all of us use a drill or drill press. I know some of these cutters fit multiple cartridges but we have bought individual ones for each cartridge to avoid setup times.

Re: Possum Hollow?

I was chucking in a variable speed drill. Tried it at all speeds and same results.

Based upon your answer i would call Eric @ Possum hollow to let him know of the issues you have had. I am sure he will take care of you.

Glad i could help! Send me a PM & let me know what happens. I think we have already answered the OP's question.

Re: Possum Hollow?

Nachtadler, I ordered mine a month or so ago and I believe it was on my doorstep within a week. I am ordering the .223 trimmer Friday.

I ordered one for the 6.5G a few days ago and they havent charged my card, I haven't gotten a shipping email, and the email address they sent my order confirmation from bounces back when i try to contact them.

Maybe this weekend...IDK

Re: Possum Hollow?

I have the Possum Hollow trimmers for 308,223, and 30-06 and all have worked pretty well. The 308 did leave chatter marks if I used it by hand but in a drill or with the drill press the marks went away.

As someone stated above, you do need to have the shoulders bumped to where you need them before trimming since the cutter indexes off the shoulder. I have always sized first anyway so this isn't really an issue.

About the only downside I can think of is they tend to get cluttered with brass shavings after alot of cases. A blast of air with a compressor easily fixes this.

I really like them, especially at $20-25.

Re: Possum Hollow?

I have one in 223 and it works good in my cordless. I wouldn't recommend for hand use,..will wear you hand out and I think you need the RPM of a power drill or something similar to get good clean cuts.

Been thinking of getting one in 308 and 30-06, (M1A & Garand loading). For my bolt guy I still trim with my crank RCBS,..more constant.
