Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

You got the dates and round count. That's more than enough.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

It wouldn't be any fun if you went in knowing all the stages of fire. Part of the fun of this game is thinking on your feet and problem solving. Coming up with the solution to the challenge given and attempting to make it work. If it does then great. If not then learn form it and do better next time. This is why I like shooting places I have never shot before. Going in cold.

No lives are on the line. Just pride lol

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

True. I am new to this and just trying to learn.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Gotta agree with Rob on this. I am pretty new to long range, but have done quite a bit of 3 gun. I like not knowing, just going in cold so I can figure it out myself. Good luck all.

Bill

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

T,

Sorry for the delay, but Rob covered it well.

Basically, expect anything and practice for everything...seriously, everything.

You will be challenged, you will need to know you rifle, you will need to know your DOPE, you might even need to know a little advanced mathematics.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

You think I still have time to come up with a scope and ammo and be ready for this? May be just paying to watch and shoot a little, don't have a scope at the moment to range with. We'll see how it goes!

Some targets you will be able to use a rangefinder. I think we will be shooting in teams, so you should be ok. But I think you still have time as long as you don't wait till the end of february.

Hope to do something here pretty quick. I have some stuff I need to get rid of then hopefully pick up a scope. Going to be putting a few things up for sale or trade.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

This is an individual match. I have no problem with people spotting/calling corrections or helping each other out, but it may not always be an option.

LRFs will be allowed on most stages. If you do not have a graduated reticule, it will not be a deal breaker for range finding. It will be useful in other regards, though, like holds.

Your scope does not have to be anything fancy, but it does need to have the ability to adjust elevation (either with turrets or reticule) and you need to understand how it works.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

i hope it rains and cold muddy mess thats march in missouri lol dont forget plastic sandwich bags to keep ammo dry

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Suffering is all in the mind. I have slept in swamps in 2ft of water. I was not misserable. But I also was not cold. Cold is miserable.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

There will be water available in the main staging area and bottled water throughout the complex.

I shot one of the tougher stages today to make sure it could be done...it was a bitch, I almost feel sorry for you guys...almost

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Iam scared tore my ACL but will manage this match will brace on hope not a lot of running

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Poor boy, you should be OK. If there's something you are not comfortable with, we will figure it out.

I have been shooting this type of match for 3 years without a PCL. I don't typically "run" during stages...a lot of that is just that I'm lazy, though!

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Absolutely not, plus, everyone must shoot 6.5 creedmoor or Lapua brass...
cool.gif

Seriously, on most stages you will be able to grab your brass, just don't be slow about it.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

I wish worring about my brass at the match is all I had to think about. My throat on my rifle has eroded to much and I have lost a lot accuracy. I have ordered a take off barrel from mike at Tac Ops. Bobby in Jefferson City is going to true my bolt, lapp barrel. But then I will have to load development. My barrel has not showed up yet. So i might even have to take a few days off work to get it up and running good when I get it back from bobby.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Um...wtf is snivel gear?

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Is there an itinerary yet? Also curious what time everything is starting on Friday.

Re: Midwest Rifle Master Challenge, Missouri, March

Hello Shooters,

We are less than a month out. I just wanted to touch on a few things.

First, I would like to go over what you need to bring.

Weapons, a centerfire rifle with a scope that has adjustment capability (you can turn the dials in the field) and a pistol. A semi-automatic pistol is recommended.

Caliber selection; if you think you hit a target, but the RO didn't see it...you don't get any points. If you have a question or are positive you did, I want you to bring it up. But any discrepancies must be addressed on that stage and the RO has the final say. The moral of this paragraph is...choose a good balance between performance and downrange energy.

Plan on being able to carry half of your ammo when you start out in the morning. You need to be able to carry your rifle, pistol and all gear "hands free" while moving between stages. The rifle needs to have a sling and the pistol needs to have a holster. Bottled water will be available throughout the range, but a method of carrying some would be a good idea as well.

This will be a physical match. You will be walking between stages and moving a lot during the stages. Be prepared for this. A helmet is not required, but would be a really good idea. Hearing protection and Eye protection will be required. Make sure you bring appropriate snivel gear.

Safety; this is the most important thing in this email. Everyone will be safe. Anything else will not be tolerated. Any movement will be performed with empty chambers and empty magazine wells. Muzzle discipline will be practiced at all times. You will not discharge a weapon unless you have identified the target and anything behind it.

You will have fun, this is non-negotiable!

Competitors need to arrive between 2:00 and 4:30 Friday afternoon. Make sure you have your rifle with you. There will be a zero range available, but you need to have a rifle that is zeroed and ready to go. There will be a safety briefing and dinner. This is mandatory.

Everyone needs to be on site no later than 7:30 Saturday morning. The gate will be locked shortly afterward, so if you don't make it, you are out of luck. This will be a long day.

Sunday will be more relaxed and we should wrap up early afternoon.

I look forward to seeing everyone soon.
