Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

Odd... The price for a DD M4V5 is very similar (about $60) to the BCM Recce 16... With prices being similar, where do you stand?

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

I can't comment on DD because the only exerience I have is with their handguards (which I like), but my BCM doesn't get the best treatment and it's never missed a beat. I will continue to buy BCM.

Whole rifles may be a different story. I have only bought their complete uppers.

Honestly its a toss up.

Flip a coin.

Agreed. The products are very similar and both have great track records but you'd save some money by going BCM. Depending on your budget you might want to get whats more readily available though. Just depends.

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

Daniel Defense cause I can get a 20 round grouping at 400 yards on this target.

In that case you should get a a cheytac. It can do that at 4000 yards.

Seriously though, do you really think that BCM's barrels couldnt do that?

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

Don't know, now that everyone can see the target someone with a BCM can try it then compare.

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

Those are very deep dents in that steel telling me the shots were much closer than 400 yds. More like 50 yards for that kind of denting. Unless I am missing something?

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

OK Investigator, you can really tell by a phone camera pic. The dents are nothing more then where the paint came off.

Ill give it a shot next time I go shoot.

Whats the rifle specs? barrel length, handguards, twist rate, bullet weight, optics?

And what are the dimensions to that target?

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

16" carbine DD 1/7, Troy TRX rail, round XM193 55gr, Burris TAC30 1-4, PRI muzzle break off a GG&G bi pod. Target is 9"Wx15"H (could be off a lil) will measure for sure on Wednesday. I believe the temp was about 70 degrees. Never knew mirage would effect the bullet at the range. this is the rifle I use.

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

My BCM mk12 when i do my part will hold 1/2 Moa at 100yds. So i assume given the shooter it would do well at 400. It's been a while since i shot my mk12. But i've taken it out to 300, 400, 500, and 600yds. Never put a entire mag on one steel target though, might try it next time. I honestly can't remember how it looked, i only took pictures of my .308 groups at those ranges. BCM makes a hell of a barrel for the price.

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

I love my BCM 14.5" middy. Best AR I have ever owned, My gas pistons included.

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

I have a BCM upper with a Daniel Defense 12" lite rail. Best of both worlds!

Same here with my 14.5" have the 9" omega rails.

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

I own both DD and BCM. I really can't say one shines above the other in accuracy or reliability.

My favorite AR is a 14.5 DD LW mid-length with a 12.0 Lite Rail. I chose that over the BCM only because a BCM was unavailable in that configuration at the time.

Same way i feel, even though i haven't owned DD. Just depends on price really.

Thats the same set up I have on one of my rifles

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

Both are great and if I were on the market for another one I'd choose whichever was cheapest at the time.

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

They both rock, i have both in 14.5 and a ddm4. They are my two favorite ar producers price and quality are unbeatable. I also have a few lmt lowers and plan on an MRPdi upper for .300blk/556 setup.

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

I have no complaints about either. Typically if BCM has something in stock the prices are good and the service is excellent. If they don't then I look for DD parts at MidwayUSA and other dealer and I get that. After building about 25 rifles for myself and friends using all kinds of different parts based on the owners budget, I can say that Daniel Defense has the best fit and finish of ANYTHING I've used. The quality and smoothness of the finish on their hard coat is second to none. Side by side the finish on the BCM products is not quite as nice but better than most others. Basically you can't go wrong with either and If you're like me the guns end up getting beat up anyways so the finish is not that big of deal...

Re: Daniel Defense vs. BCM?

Both DD and BCM are highly recommended on forums like M4C and sit at the top of the list with other manufacturers like Colt, KAC, and LMT who meet or exceed mil-spec or the TDP. It comes down to minor details on what hardware configuration is more suitable to you, what's in stock, and which is a better deal.

DD's standard offerings emphasize a light weight build without sacrificing ruggedness. You can go through their custom shop and spec something different, but Joe at DD informed me the custom shop isn't taking orders until Q2. The only limitation to DD is they're a manufacturer and make most of their parts in-house so you aren't going to find their rifles with non-DD parts other than the stocks.

BCM started as a full custom parts company and offer a line of complete rifles as well as a wide selection of uppers with top-tier parts to satisfy most any shooter looking for the best gear. If you want components not made by DD, such as Troy, VTAC, Centurion, etc, then BCM is the way to go. Both offer CHF barrels so it's hard to go wrong.

Ferrari of Lamborghini? Both are at the top of their game.
