I am planning on purchasing a Tipton carbon fiber rod for new
7 MM Mag with 26" Krieger barrel fitted to M700 action. Also planning on buying a Lucas bore guide once he starts taking orders again.

The Tipton carbon fiber rod for .27 - .45 caliber is listed at .250" in diameter. That leaves very little space between rod surface and lands.

The rod for .22 - .26 caliber is listed at .208" diameter.
Any concern with too much flex with this .208" rod?

Thanks for feedback.

Re: cleaning rod

Use the correct rod. Tipton knows what they're doing. The 208 rod will be super flimsy.

Re: cleaning rod

Dewey rods are awesome. Lucas bore guides are great as well.

Re: cleaning rod

I have 4 of the tipton carbon fiber rods. Have had them for around 6-7 years. They're great, I'm sure there's other great rods out there but I have never had a reason to look since I got the tiptons.

Re: cleaning rod

I use tipton rods for my rifles. I have the .27-.45 for the bigger rifles and .17-.22 for the rim-fire rifles.

As far as Lucas goes, don't waste your money, get a Possum Hollow and laugh all the way to the bank.

Re: cleaning rod

Thanks for the feedback.

A rod with .208" diameter is fine for a .264 caliber, but too flimsy for a .284 caliber? Are the patches or brushes any tighter inside a .264 barrel than inside a .284 barrel? The specs on the 7 MM Krieger barrel that I am waiting for is .277" bore (lands). That leaves .0135" of clearance between the rod surface and the surface of the barrel. Just something to think about.

Thanks
