Re: Any body use a Leupold VXR tactical

There are about 3 or 4 review threads on that scope, search for them.

I have one and wouldn't use it for that. It's a good 223 plinker or hunting scope but not a scope for a precision rifle especially at long distance.

The new weaver 3-15 tactical, bushnell 3-12, vortex PST 4-16 or 6-24, or for 300 get a fixed 16X super sniper if it's only target shooting you'll have it at max or close to it most of the time anyways.

We have been getting really good feedback for the guys that we have sold them to. They are using them for mid-range shooting not 1k. I'm sure the Patrol would do a 1k shot but I would recommend looking at other scopes for that. Like BCP said the Weaver, Bushnell, and the Vortex PST would be a good way to go.

I agree for 1000yds it's not to practical, but i think it's pretty adequate for 600yds and medium shooting, as you said 5.56 or hunting. Any distance with more than two revs and i don't want it, doesn't have zero stop and the reticle is noticeably thicker than the traditional TMR. That being said i own one on my 18" .243 youth rig for hunting and as i said for 600yd shooting and hunting on the side it's a hell of a scope for 600$

FWIW after a few range trips the reticule in my VX-R has canted a bit

Fucking leupold.

Re: Any body use a Leupold VXR tactical

We had three of them when they first came out. At first they worked great. After about 3,000 rounds of 5.56 through each, two still worked fine one seemed to have intermittent tracking issues..

Re: Any body use a Leupold VXR tactical

I am intrigued by this optic. I will check it out in person at my local gun shop, but was curious about BCP's reticle canting issue, or anyone else's experiences with the VX-R's.
Definitely something that should be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
