I am thinking about selling my Spikes upper and using the money from it towards the purchase of a 16 or 18" precision upper.

Have any of you had experience with them or know anything about them? Seems like a good deal?

RRA Uppers

Re: Thoughts on these RRA Uppers?

The RRA predator and varmint uppers are known for their accuracy out of the box. A good trigger and match/well made ammo are key. You'll be happy with the RRA product. They make a good product in the intermediate level price range of AR kit. I'd recommend the 1/8 stainless steel barrel with the "W" chamber.

Re: Thoughts on these RRA Uppers?

I would highly recommend the uppers. I own the predator pursuit which the company guarantees 3/4 moa at 100 yds. I have shot .683 5 shots at 100 yds.
I just replaced the A2 stock with a Magpul PRS. No reason other than I really like the look of the stock.

Re: Thoughts on these RRA Uppers?

i have duty experience with it and can say that RRA puts out a decent product....as said above, the price is reasonable and their guns are on par in that class of pricing...

Re: Thoughts on these RRA Uppers?

I like RRA products as well. But, you better get em while you can. They are backed up now worse than they have ever been. Wait times are getting really long for rifles and complete uppers.

Re: Thoughts on these RRA Uppers?

Very happy with a RRA varmint upper I bought last year. Around 1/2 mos accuracy at 100 yards. Still working up an OCW load for it but it shoots really well with tac and smk 77's.

I had a stripped RRA lower sitting around so I built it out as a nice shooter. My wife took it away from me and claimed it as her own so I ordered a gap-10 to replace it, I'm just crushed....heh.

Re: Thoughts on these RRA Uppers?

I have two RRA's: a Varmint 20" and a M4. Solid rifles at a fair price. Saving my pennies for a LAR-8......

Re: Thoughts on these RRA Uppers?

I shoot one of the RRA National Match A2 uppers ( SS bbl 1/8" ) in NRA Service Rifle competition and it's very accurate. If I drop a round out of the 10 ring it's all me, not the gun.

I wish I could give you more specifics but I've never put a scope on it and have rarely fired it from a bench. The few times I have fired it from a bench was during load development and/or to run some rounds over a chronograph. I shoot 69gr SMKs with 24.5 grs of RE-15 at the 200 and 300 yard line. At the 600 I use a 80 gr SMK with 23.5 grs of RE-15. With iron sights I shoot 1-2 MOA groups from the bench, I'm interested to see what it would do with a scope.

I am getting ready to take my rifle out to Terlingua and shoot steel at 600 and 800 yds. I haven't developed loads for it yet. But it shot best with 55 gr. pills. I bought some 69 grain Hornady match bullets and am getting ready to get 77gr. I was thinking of the 80's but was a little skeptical. I think I'll do a ladder test with 80 gr and see what the sweet spot is for my rifle.

Re: Thoughts on these RRA Uppers?

I own 2 rra uppers. I have a flat top national match that shoots yery well. I have a nikon 2.5-10 bdc scope on it right now and shot a .7" ctc 5 shot group with it two weekends ago. Thats pretty typical performance, It would probably do a bit better if I were a better shot or if I had better optics on it. The load was 21gr varget under a 77 gr sierra mk.

I also run a 16" rra carbine upper with an aimpoint on top and have been very impressed with it also. It has been through a few carbine classes and has never given me any trouble. It also kills idpa targets out to 500 yards with boring regularity with just the aimpoint.

I have run a scope on the carbine to check accuracy and it was consistnatly sub moa, but its been a while so I dont have any hard data.

The carbine is also very heavy below the handguard making the rifle a bit of a brick, but its a shooter and very reliable.

Hope that helps
