Ok it looks like I'm going to have to replace the stock on my new 700 AAC-SD and have decided to go with the B&C Tactical Medalist just can't decide which one to get what do you guys think? Should I get the style 2 with the vertical grip or go with style 3 that has the ''Hook"? And this is probably a dumb question but what is the hook for in style 2?
Here is the link to the style 2:

And and all opinions welcome. Thanks.

SDP,

I own a B&C "Style 3", a B&C A5 adjustable, a B&C M40, and have handled the "style 2". Of the two you mentioned, and asuming you are looking for a general purpose rifle, I highly recommend the "style 3" with the hook. I could care less about the hook, which is there for you to use your support hand to snug the butt of the stock into your shoulder when the front of the rifle is supported. I like it for it's versatilty.

The grip is not absolutely vertical, however it is far from the very swept back tradional sporter rifle grip style. It's a good compromise.

The forend is much sleeker and more comfortable to grasp than the style 2 stock. The style 2 is quite wide, bulky, and has corners that are just too sharp for my liking. The style2 is quite fine for a prone and bench stock. I happen to feel the style3 does just as well at those tasks while also being more comfortable and handier in field-shooting positions.

Good luck!

Re: Bell and Carlson: Tactical Medalist Style 2 or 3??

Thanks Alien Hunter. Yeah I'm looking for the best all around stock. I do sometimes shoot from a bench but I mostly shoot from the ground prone on all different terrains. My parents have about 300 acres so I have targets set up all over the place from 100-900 yards at various locations and I'm constantly changing places/positions to try and improve my shooting for all terrains/environments. I'm really interested in military snipers so I try to learn and mimic their stalking as well as shooting techniques.

Re: Bell and Carlson: Tactical Medalist Style 2 or 3??

Just picked up style 3 for myself. Once you use the hook in field conditions, you will love it. I think this stock is one of the best values out there for the money. The forearm is also great for making minor adjustments in elevation. Hope this helps. Regards, Paul.

Also, don't forget the B&C 2958. I wasn't looking for a "100% tactical" stock but something a little more conventional. So far it has worked out well for me - see the link in my sig below.

For all around use the M40 style is hard to beat IMO. I have one on my 243 and will be getting another for the next M700 I build. It has a pretty tight grip radius and a nice wide tapered forearm.
