Rifle Scopes QD mount choices

Thinking of going to one scope on my two bolt guns and swapping between them with a QD mount. Scope is a S&B 5-25. Want to know if there are any mounts I don't know of. I have looked at:

LaRue
Bobro
Spuhr (not QD though?)
GDI

Are there some I'm missing? Obviously return to zero is very important so comments are appreciated.

Re: QD mount choices

I own a LaRue and I'm currently in the market for another mount. I'm very seriously considering the GDI.

Re: QD mount choices

Bobro!

I recently I have taken it off and reinstalled it at the 600 yard line and no problems with it returning to 0. Also had it off a couple of times to test out some loads in a 300BLK gun and needed something with a little more power then a redot to test loads. Threw it back on my 7WSM and no issues on going back to 0.

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't you get another larue? Any issues?

Edit: I just looked up the GDI...500$$?!?!? That much better?

Re: QD mount choices

With the intro price it's $350. With my LaRue, it's come loose several times and I've had erratic accuracy on multiple occasions due to the mount.

Alamo Four Star's DLOC series, including the M4X-30mm (there is also another version available for 34mm main tubes)

Unlike other mounts with throw levers (which have their place if you seldom intend to remove the mount/scope), the DLOC does *NOT* wear away and degrade the Picatinny rail every time you rotate the locking lever, and the DLOC features greater purchase/grip due to the larger surface area contact between the mount and your Picatinny rail

previous post from the Fall, which I need to update now that Kyle Lamb/VTAC has formally rolled out his new ultralight vertical grip (UVG) featuring the DLOC mounting/locking system...

Re: QD mount choices

I run Bobro's in both 30 and 34mm and have been very pleased.

That's a slick looking mount; never seen that one before.

Re: QD mount choices

Have you considered American Defense mounts ?
I had Recon - X and just ordered a new one. I also have their Aimpoint Micro mount. They are easy to adjust, offer large clamping area and also do not wear the rails.

Re: QD mount choices

RTR,

did you decide on a mount, or have you gotten any other good advice, as I am also looking for a QD ,ount that is repeatable, and LOW. Many of these mounts seem high for a bolt gun

Re: QD mount choices

You can also check out GG&G - I have 2 of the FLT models and they have been working out really well. No issues as far as returning to zero and they don't mar up you rail when you install/remove/re-install. I've heard that the Larue will or can mar up your rail, but haven't seen that in person.

Another option is the the Aadmount -

I guess will look at yor rig up close next week and see what your running!

Re: QD mount choices

I am looking for lowest possible mount for putting a 2.5-8 Leupold on my M1A right now and can't find anything low enough for what I am looking for. On the jesting about A.R.M.S. Inc is there a reason to worry about them as they are the lowest mount system I have found so far. The scope will be used on any hunting rifles that I want to use it on and I like to not have to use AR mounts designed for straight stocks on a bolt guns and semi auto's designed for low sights.

Re: QD mount choices

Dual lever bobro?! Since when?!

I also like the fact that the levers are on the ejection port side. I'm going to be looking for a mount for a side charging REPR and that would be that much less obstruction on the charging side.

Is what I've got. Love it. 'Sposed to return to zero every time. Made in USA. Suprised not many others have chimed in on this one, I found out about this mount from this site. Seems MANY people here have used it with VERY good reviews. Get the dual lever though, much more clamping force/stability.

Re: QD mount choices

I have an American Defense Manufacturing mount on my AR for a PST and it is nice. I really like the levers over the Larue mount I have.

That being said I used to balk at what seemed exorbitant prices for scope rings, but since I ordered a S&B that has changed. I currently own a set of seekins rings but when I finally save up enough for a DTA, I will shell out the bucks for a Spuhr mount. By all accounts they are amazing and when you figure a $3000 scope, the rings aren't ridiculous.

Also if Seekins was to put out a 34mm canted setup I'd get that (hint hint Mr. Seekins) as Glen is helping me rectify a problem with my dumbassery. Great CS.

Re: QD mount choices

DarkKnight If you are looking for a cantilever type mount then any ADM recon is the way to go. I had my 5-20 Razor mounted with a Recon 20 and it worked great, it will actually be holding my new scope when I get it which will probably be a PST of some kind.

Re: QD mount choices

The Bobro mounts are great. Once you get the scope in the rings it is not to bad. The levers are some of the best out there sending Lapoop to their grave. ADM is the second one I like. I have not owned one of the Alamo Four Star but I have seen them and checked the mount out. It is a nice mount, built well but I have not done any tests to see if they return like stated. GDI is great but more money.

Re: QD mount choices

i'm interested in the same option as rtr- with the addition of canting options for LR.

i'd like to avoid building up my cheek rest too much- and i appreciate the info provided so far, but how many of you are running these on bolt guns?

Re: QD mount choices

Nice rifle Big John....In have a full size Leupy and that mount looks like it would do the trick. Only difference is I'm running a Sopmod stock.
