Neat setup. The scope sure sits high though. With such a high rail to begin with and considering its length, there is not much one can do to bring the scope down much.

Re: STRIKE 30 Chassis with Rem 700 short action .308

Its positioned relatively the same height as the scope system used on the XM2010 / M24E1 Enhanced Sniper Rifle Weapon System. Scope on the M24E1 is using the Badger Ordinance 306-54 rings. We chose to use the Larue OBR mount due to the QD capabilities.

Below is a photo of the XM2010 / M24E1 as shown on the wikipedia site under the title of XM2010. You can see the height of the scope and ring combo using the Badger Ordinance rings.

Re: STRIKE 30 Chassis with Rem 700 short action .308

No need to get so defensive every time someone mentions how relatively high a scope sits on this setup.

Searcher just made an observation, not a comparison to the RACS. Though the original RACS does appear to have a smaller diameter fore end, and it looks like it fits closer to the action and barrel.

Is it possible to get the forward top rail attach/detach capable, like the side rails? That way, the end user can decide whether they want the full length top rail, no top rail forward of the ring mount base area, or a smaller rail at the front end for night vision or such while leaving the mid section free and clear for the objective lens of an optic.

Plus the ability to remove the rails in the area immediately forward of the ring mount/base area would allow for lower mounting of optics if one chooses. That would be an added motivation to get the chassis for those that prefer their optics closer to the bore rather than farther away.

Having said that, this is a great chassis and a step forward in tactical bolt action stocks. Looking forward to the day when something like this will be available for custom actions. ***Cough***Surgeon XL!***Cough***

It may be the same height, but it's still high for some people, that's all. It IS one cool looking rifle, IMO, and glad you shared your awesome pics.

I agree. Nice-looking chassis, but the sight height is unnecessarily extreme. I wonder why they made it that way. With a chassis that nice, I'm sure they had a reason. I'm curious about that now.

I think it's simply the full length top rail + integral moa cant = taller rear end.

You figure they want the barrel to be centered at the front opening of the fore end. Combine that with what looks like generous spacing between the barrel and inner diameter of the fore end, the height of the top rail at the front end, and when you factor in the straight line from front to end, and the rise of the moa cant, the height of the rear end of the rail has nowhere to go but up.

Plus, with a continuous top rail, you have to mount the scope higher based on the diameter of the objective, vice the tube, like you can mostly do with a "regular" mount and bare top barrel setup.

Rail Kits are fully adjustable and can be removed or added to user spec. Top long rail is also removeable.

Cheek weld is perfectally adjustable for each user as well as LOP and rear recoil pad elevation. End user can make adjustments for perfect allignment with scope.

Thankyou for clarifying that point Chris, that is what I was hoping to hear!

Perhaps you could post a pic showing showing a super-slick low mounted S&B PMII riding on your chassis. That would really appeal to a number of us.
