I started a thread on my foot being bruised and am thinking of going to a different shoe for running to prevent this. Here is a link to the thread to give more details: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3196693&#Post3196693

My question is what would be a good alternative to the VFF, I love running in them but need more padding. I am looking for a low drop runner, not necessarily a minimalist shoe ( dont think I want to go in between, eighter a regular runner or the VFF. Thanks for any help.

I love running in my Nike Free Runs (I am a Crossfit Endurance certified running instructor and run mid-foot). The Frees were the first "minimalist" running shoe. Inov-8 makes good minimalist running shoes too. I have a pair of the Merrell Trail Gloves, and don't like running in them b/c there is very little padding in them. I have heard good things about the New Balance Minimus but haven't tried them.

Thanks I checked the Inov 8 out and they look good, I have never heard of them before. I just wish I could keep the VFF and have just a little padding. Im gonna try and find some Inov 8 to try on. I tried some Saucony Kinvara 2 today and they just felt weird on my feet. I think I am going to have a hard time going back to regular shoes.

The Inov-8s run smaller than normal (anywhere from 1/2 to 1 size), so I would try them on before if you can (or buy from a place with a free return shipping policy).

Will do thank you. I just cut some insoles for my fivefingers to add some padding (very little they are .160" thick). They feel great cant wait until tomorrow @ 0430, I will report back on how they do on a run.
