I hope that I am not pissing anyone off with my stupid questions but I have one more hopefully the last one.

I am building an AR. I have built a few before but always did a "kit". this one I am picking and choosing every last part.

Here is what I have. Seekins upper, lower, and rail. Noveske 16" barrel with "switch block". Geissele SSA-E trigger.

Anyway question is, how do you know which buffer to run? or which should I run? Standard, H1, H2, H3, Or a SLASH heavy buffer (which is quite heavy). I plan on running it suppressed but with the "switch block" I can turn the gas down. So not sure which one to run.

Re: Which buffer????

I run an H buffer on my suppressed 16" rifles. I am in the middle of building my version of a MK18 and will be running a H2.

Re: Which buffer????

I don't know if yours is mid-length gas system or carbine length. Mine are all carbine length and overgassed from the get-go.

I bought 1 each H1, H2, H3. I also have the Wolff extra power buffer springs installed. Tried them all extensively with my YHM 7.62 Titanium suppressor and found that the H2 was the ticket for reliable operation with/without the suppressor.

I would say you need the heaviest buffer the gun will reliably operate with WITHOUT the suppressor. The suppressor will put more pressure on your gas system so it's pretty much a given that it will operate WITH the suppressor.

You can buy 1 H3 buffer and by using weights from your original and the H3 you can mix/match weights for H1 and H2. That is IF you can get the plastic tip out of the buffer without damage.

I bought a Slash buffer for my old Bushmaster (now RRA) .308. Works perfect.

H2 with tubb cs buffer spring. In my noveske I have the recce, mid length switchblock and rifle length buffer with cs spring.
