Just sent PayPal for 3 of each. I can't wait to give this a go.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Just sent for 3 targets. FYI your website says $11.80 for 3 targets through PayPal instead of $12.80.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Wow... that prize list was really awesome before, but it is now just completly amazing!!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

I am really glad to see this "little" competition get to be so wide spread. It is nice to see it growing like it is, and to have the wives and girlfriends and kiddos participate is just overwhelming!!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Sent mine off for the year. Got me a newly built Smiley smacker for this years centerfire thanks in part to some of the sponsors like TAB and CCA. Now I should stay away from the bottom of the scores list.

A few new ones I have my eyes on are the bipods and the steel targets. I have both editions of Litz's book, but I could always use another:) I already wore the pages out of my first edition.

Great prize list.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Money sent. My personal goal is to have aggs for both rimfire and centerfire this season.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Awesome Jason, it will be another great year shooting the SMS comps. We are excited. Thanks again for all you do and your hard work to make this happen.

Definitely good to donate. I would throw in a free grease trap pumping in the San Antonio area, but somehow I don't think that would be a cherished item on the winner's table:)

I'm in for 4 targets. Can't wait to get shooting!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

I need to put together a build for the rimfire match, I just can't get enough of this match! The sponsors are really great and these prizes are incredible. I have to say dealing with the sponsors has been excellent, many are very gracious to accept your claim. Just talked to Marty at Badger Ord about my claim from the last match and must say, very nice guy. He's gonna take care of an m5 trigger guard for me! It is nice talking with the sponsors here, and I am already planning some other mods and purchases from the sponsors on the list. I have a lot of respect for these companies, as they are willing to not only support us in this competition, but also supporting the cause for american snipers. Needless to say, of course, is that Jason has put together a great competition, and we are all greatful for his efforts as well. Thanks all around!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

If you are doing a build dedicated to this comp, I think a good stock is the McMillan F-class stock. I have the McMillan prone stock, which is great, but the McMillan prone might ride the rear bag a little better. The contour of my stock has my muzzle coming up just a hair (.1 - .2 mils) on recoil.

For centerfire, my ideal build for STS would be in 30BR and would feature the McMillan F-class stock. I would do heavy fill and have a short, stout barrel. No joke, I have actually thought of doing a build like that. I would get it done in Yellow and Black camo and put a "Have a nice day" bumper sticker with a Smiley Face on it on the stock.

Even with that build, I don't think I could top Bill the Lurker.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Just out of idle curiosity.....

Has anyone ever shot STS with a .50 cal.?

Mirage

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Yep.
the pic of the target is on the STS website.
In the Hall of Fame, at the bottom of the Pics tab.
Very nice!!!

I took the catridge rings off my Eagle Stock Pack, and put a Infidel Smiley Patch on it just for that particular reason!! LOL. I don't have that particular rifle anymore, but I do have the pack. I love the thing. Smiley UP!!

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Guys,

I must apologize, I have been quite under the weather for the last couple weeks so the targets did not make it in the mail on time. All will be mailed tomorrow that are paid up, and so <span style="font-weight: bold">I will extend the deadline 1 week till 29 MAY, so you do not have to send back your targets till the post office opens after Memorial day.</span>

Thanks,
JB

I'm a little late getting in on this one, but PayPal payment has been sent to speed it up a little. Faster than payment through snail mail!

Looking forward to getting the family out to shoot these again.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

I tin cupped it big time on CF this time around. I hate a beautiful target going and I pushed a confidence shot on the 40 pt smiley! I'll post a pic when I get the chance.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

just sent paypal for 2 targets for each match.

cant wait to try this out

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Just shot my first round of rimfire STS and I must say I just had my ass handed to me. I was wondering why you have ppl circle their CBS...now I know. I don't think you can call my 3-shot group a group either. Oh well at least I got one more try.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

My PayPal account got jacked again, so me and my crew will be sitting this one out. I hate it, but it is what it is...

DK

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

This was a bad session for me. I had some great targets that got ruined on the confidence shot. The one with the best score was mediocre at best for rimfire. For centerfire, pretty bad.

On one of my rimfire targets, I had it stapled to the backer and forgot that I left the turrets set for the wrong distance. I was shooting at a lower target on the same backer and I ruined the STS target with one shot. I wasn't even aiming at it. I won't be doing that again. Lesson learned.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Yea my one and only round of centerfire I had messed up my dies for reloading so my bullets were to far out. I bet your one accidental hit would still outscore mine. I'm almost ashamed to send the target back.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Here's my targets. Not the best shooting I've done, but I'll blame it on the wind.

Re: Smack the SMILEY - SPRING 2012 - ENTRY OPEN!

Mitch,

Looking at the pics, it seems you may have missed this part of the rules in bold:

"*CBS: (Cold Bore Shot) concerning your FIRST SHOT at the "CBS" circle on the target. To be an honest "true CBS" this must be the first shot from the gun THAT DAY. The gun MAY be fouled and sighted in the prior day, but if you are claiming a CBS, it must be the first shot that day. A TRUE CBS IS NOT REQUIRED, BUT IS A BETTER TEST OF PERSONAL AND EQUIPMENT ABILITIES.

*3-SHOT GROUP:

--fire ONLY 3 shots at the diamond aiming point at any time after the target is unfolded

*CONFIDENCE SHOT: (OPTIONAL -- ONE SHOT ONLY!!):

--This can be fired any time after you unfold the target (after the CBS) YOU MUST HAVE ALREADY HIT THE CIRCLE/SMILEY YOU ARE GOING AFTER WITH THE CONFIDENCE SHOT. The confidence shot is ONE ROUND fired at whatever circle you are sure you can hit a second time - if you miss the chosen circle with this shot, you loose ALL the points for THAT CIRCLE.

THIS SHOT IS NOT REQUIRED-ONLY TAKE IT IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT YOU CAN CONNECT.

*WIPEOUT: complete removal of the smiley shown with a caliber sized scoring ring. This can be done with a 22 caliber bullet.

*TIEBREAKERS: Tiebreakers will be figured by the most central CBS on the "CBS" aimpoint. (since the cold bore shot is most important to the tactical shooter) then after that ties will be determined by 3-shot group size.

<span style="font-weight: bold">*The circle around the 40pt smily is UN-SCORED, it is only an aiming aid for lower magnification scopes. </span>"

Sorry for that
