Anyone here that has had experiance with Banks or another system might be able to help me choose. I am rebuilding and customizing a 2001 dodge 3500.

Re: Banks power

What all are you looking to do performance wise? It would help to be more specific on what you are looking to do.

Re: Banks power

banks has always been historically way overpriced for what you get. depending on what you wanna do, put in some 275 hp RV injectors in that thing and call up mads electronics and get a smarty. of course make sure your clutch is beefed or you auto is built.

Re: Banks power

I'm happy with my H&S Performance stuff. I run the Black Maxx while my folks run the Mini Maxx, no problems. If you don't want digital gauges I would second the use of a SMARTY because they are great. What tranny are you running, auto or manual?

Re: Banks power

Tst 9 stage worked good in my 02. Quadzilla is another good one. But the smarty is hard to beat.

Re: Banks power

I had a Banks 6 Gun tunner with a speed loader, 5" exhaust on a 2004 Dodge 3500 6 spd manual. To Date I have never been in a truck with anywhere close to the power and torque that truck had!!!

It was for ever more a BAD MTHER but.... I did go through 5 rearends before getting rid of it and it was way to loud when everything was turned all the way up. Damn I miss that truck!

Re: Banks power

Almost everyone here is discussing what to do to a common rail truck, which is not the same as his 24v.

Re: Banks power

I had a Banks chip in my 2009 Ford SuperDuty. I also put their exhaust on from the turbo back and their air filter. It had a very noticeable improvement in power, a slight increase in economy and no extra smoke. I also put a Banks exhaust on my 2008 SuperDuty with a V10. Very happy with it also. You can buy Banks from AutoAnything on the web at a great savings. Banks retail price is high, but so is their results and quality. I will say if you chip be sure to do exhaust and air filter. Chips can make your engine run hotter and you need to get more air moving to keep it cool. I ran a pyrometer on my 1999 and it never went over 600 degrees was often quite a bit cooler.

Re: Banks power

I used an Edge on my 01 Dodge. It worked pretty good, had 5 stages with 5 steps in each stage IIRC. When in the higher stages made heat in a hurry. You really need a pyrometer, and you need to drive by it. I've heard melted pistons hurt milage......

Re: Banks power

Smarty Sr.
Airdog II fuel/Air system
Banks Ram Air w scoop
duel Exhaust and straight pipe or a flow through muffler.
Steed Speed Manifold
Auto meter A pillar mount gauges (they match dodge factory)

Might need a new clutch plate in the future but this will get you there with power, torque, speed and fuel economy.

Re: Banks power

Banks is junk. Go with a Quadzilla programmer. You will want to pick up a cold air intake kit. Couple that all with a 5" exhaust and you will be making good power while staying cool on the EGT's.
