The shit works. Everything moves much smoother and is a breeze to clean. I use a toothbrush and brush everything that's metal. The frog lube doesn't fly off and seems rather resillient. PITA parts and certain areas that are infamous in an AR pratform for collecting carbon are now light work. Next time I get some I'm just going to get a big container of both the liquid and the paste. I do find that I use it rather quickly, but it's worth it.

Re: newbie AR lube ?

+1 for the froglube; I lathered my AK in it, threw all the metal in the oven for a few hours and now after each trip to the range where I usually put 200/+ rounds down the tube it takes no more than 5 patches to get the barrel damn near spotless. 15 minute max cleaning if I don't shoot corrosive. Runs like a champ, after 2k+ rounds I've never had a single problem at ALL.

Re: newbie AR lube ?

Been using the Slip EWL2000 on BCG and on my pistols as well. Pleased so far, cleanup is a breeze and does not seem to hold fouling as bad in the pistols.

Re: newbie AR lube ?

Anybody use RemOil? A navy seal at my shooting range said that was all I needed

Re: newbie AR lube ?

I haven't read the whole thread but I ahve seen several people reccomend running ti REAL wet for long period of shooting

If you do that, make sure you aren't doing much prone work, the dirt/debris from the ground somehow ends up in the bcg area and it gunks up. it's pretty bad

they spray CLP at the range before we zero, and I refuse to get it. because even in those little 40 rounds of shooting, you end up with crap all over the bolt from the ground.

I just spread weapon shield and leave it alone, always worked for me.

I have heard people using mobil 1 and it's been positive and negative. I haven't tried it

would you run gun oil in your car? lol

that being said, that stuff is DIRT MAGNET

I've been using tuf cloth lately. doesn't fix the heat/friction problem but I also haven't used it enough on a rifle to see it's effects.

I also tried some gun grease, but I'm not a fan of it. like mobil 1, it just traps all the dirt it can find.

Re: newbie AR lube ?

I've switched from break free clp to mpro-7. The new cans of break free made by safariland state on the back that they contain PTFE. I use the mpro on everything except the outside of the carrier and charging handle. On these I use a light coat of weapon sheild grease.

Re: newbie AR lube ?

+1 on the Frog Lube, been using it from day one on a new AR308. Prepped before break-in and the barrel remained remarkably clean. My Sig 220 runs smooth, quiet and never misses a beat. The stuff is pretty impressive, consider who derived this stuff and the conditions its been thru..... The other nice thing about it is you can carry small amounts in a pouch for field use and it doesnt leak out of a container.
