Fat Bastarded Muzzle Brake

After 3 days of reading, watching demo videos, I think I've made a choice for a Fat Bastard brake. Watching how their brake tamed a .338 Lapua, sold me. Now its a matter of which size, the Fat Bastard and the smaller Little Bastard. My barrel is .900 at the muzzle, so I think they will both fit.

My question is can you over brake a gun. I need to cut as much recoil as possible, because of neck problems. My body doesn't handle recoil well, that was the reason for making a R700 in 6.5CM. The manufacture lists the larger version for the .338 Lapua and larger. I've tried to reach the manufacture but just get an answer machine.

The LB is what you want for your 6.5CM.

I shoot a LB on my 7WSM when it doesn't have a suppressor on it and it works like a champ. I probably wouldn't go with a FB unless I was shooting a 300WM and bigger.

The little bastard is what I use on my 6.5 CM, and it's great. I can watch my bullets impact on target. APA is a great company to deal with. I don't know why you're getting a machine, maybe try calling at different time during the day. Darleen usually answers the phone, and is very helpful in taking your order. The big bastard is too big for your needs. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

I'm running the little Jimmy on a 308, works great. The folks at APA have always been awesome for me. Hope you can get through go them.

Have you looked at the RWS brakes being sold on the hide? Put one of Ross's brakes on my 308 it now feels like a 223 or less. Cost is 45 shipped and Ross is GTG

I can tell you first hand that the bastard brakes are different than any other. If you are lying next to a shooter with a bastard, you better have a chin strap to keep your hat on.

From what I have seen, fit and finish is also second to none.

I would definatley recomend a Little bastard for your application

I doubt the 6.5 puts off enough gas to take full advantage of the fat bastard, but Jered would be the one to ask

if you cant get him leave a message or try his email, last i talked to him he was busy on the machines during the day working on getting rifles and parts out the door for customers and blocks off time each day to return phone calls.

you have 2 options as far as installation

get it contoured to match your barrel, or keep it 1inch and blend in the back to your barrel, ive been told keeping it at 1inch gives the brake more surface area again i highly doubt you will notice a difference on a 1in or one .900 contoured down, the brake design is VERY effective, the best i have shot, your buddies at the range wont like you, but you will love how the rifle barley moves.

I am getting the Little Jimmy put onto my .308. My rifle is at APA right now. I am getting a new barrel put on so I decided to go ahead and have them put on a brake too. I like how it tapers down at the end instead of it being flat like the LB.


Bad part is I have longer to wait. I have like 6-7 people ahead of mine yet.
