GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

Hmm, is that a really hard shot with a 308?

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

What was the volley at the end there? Mover?

He said "Hit" after shooting 20 rounds.

Wondering what the stage was...

That's what I was wondering too. I'm no superstar, but a static target (unless it's very small) isn't too hard.

I'm sure there is more to it though, otherwise he wouldn't have posted it. Lol

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

Yeah, unless those "brush and limbs" he mentioned were seriously thick.

Like to know details as to why it took 20 rounds to "hit" at 750 and sometimes rapid fire 3 round bursts.

So it's more about seeing the target, not engaging it?

Wonder what size the target was. I would understand a volley fire hoping one round hits it since I can't see it?

Or to blast out brush and cut down tree limbs...

Let's see the bolt guys do that.

Exactly, 5 competitors hit it I believe out of 46. It was more about battleing the brush and limbs and spotting the impacts in a 10-15 MPH wind as well. Target was a Skull and crosbones Target not sure of the size but it was far from large.

If anything 308's had it easier as there path took the rounds above most of the brush

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

If I remember correctly, the target was 8"x11". It wasnt an easy target to hit. I put a few rounds all around it and was suprised that I didnt hit it before time ran out.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

Anyone notice the crickett making the run for it inside the hut when the shooting started?

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

What's he using for a trigger?

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

That makes sense, I know I had the range right. My rf binos said 758. Had the gun dialed correct, still couldn't see any splash around the target. Later I talked to a RO and he said he was seeing limb impacts and some bullets were deflecting straight down.

Yeah but come on Jeff, Green sneakers and Shorts? Aren't you supposed to rock some sort of mil camo and combat boots at these things? You lost all style points.

Love the vid, George.

IMO, this was probably the toughest target to hit of the whole match, due to the limbs and such. I was one of the shooters to hit it. The spotter/RO said I hit/ busted a limb or 2 before I "cleared" the path to actually hit it. 7mm08 with 162s...

I think I know why he closed his eyes, he was praying for the 6mm to have more tree cutting ability.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

Looks like his "tree cutting ability" got him 2nd!
Good Shooting. Don't act like your the only person who doesn't flinch while firing a rifle OBX.....

I didn't mean to come off like that, my bad. The tree cutting power thing was a joke but got lost in translation to the keyboard.

Believe that is a GAP proprietary design and you have to buy one of their ARs to get one.

That is the hunting/sniper handguard designed by POF. Hogan also uses the same design.

I'm fairly certain from an earlier post George made though that the rifle length is made only for GAP.

I think your right. I thought they were referring to the design when asking who makes the handguard.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

George,
What did you shoot in the match?

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

George shot a 6mm Creedmoor and Jeff was shooting a .243.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

Thanks Rob, these stinkin gassers are making seriously consider swappin my 6.5 Creed bolt for a gasser, but that little bolt gun makes me smile!

I'd be curious to know if Jeff's .243 was loaded with the 105BTHPs and what, if any, speed difference his load had over George's 6CM.
My interest is piqued in a GAP-10, and I sure like the idea of having a gasser to run/ load for along with my GAP .243.
Thanks for any help!!!

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

Glad to see the 6mm Creedmoor is working out. Seems like a great round for a gas gun

That length is made for us, but you can get a POF or a HOGAN with a similar handguard

We were both running 105's at about 3040 FPS. Jeff is switching to the 6mm Creedmoor on the next barrel. the 6 Creedmoor puts the bullet out of the neck shoulder junction and has alot less pressure problems.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

George how does the 6 creedmoor stack up against the 6XC? Seems like they would be pretty similar performance wise

Very Similar, the 6xc is a tad shorter about .032" I believe

The big differenc is the cost of the brass as the 6mm Creedmore will be about 60c a piece

Re: GAP-10 6mm Firepower!

Cool deal. I was just wondering about the performance. Might just have to end up with a AR10 upper in 6 creedmoor.
