I have been told that the ERB-2 reticle is what the Horus should have been; that the Horus is too busy.

What are your thoughts?

I am considering getting the Razor HD w/EBR-2 reticle!

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

If I were going to be mostly dialing I'd run the EBR-2.

That H-59 is the best reticle I've ever used but I primarily use holdovers/holdoffs. Busy nah, want to see busy ? look at a pic of a TReMor 2.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

I will be using holdover/holdunder more than dialing. Have you used the EBR-2 or 2B?

I would say that is an interesting way to put it.

Really they are two means to the same goal. I do find most Horus reticles to be extremely busy. I love the EBR-2 on my Razor.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

Is there any issue with spotting the impact behind the larger dot of the ERB-2B vs. the ERB-2?

I like the fact that the heavier dot may be easier to see, however, Jacob, at RO, told me that you can identify the impacts even behind the smaller dots.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

I have an EBR-2B in my razor and have no problems spotting impacts. It is a very nice reticle I like the opening in the middle of the cross hair for bracketing targets.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

What I like about my ebr-2b is that it did cost any extra to get it. Seriously though I really like mine and no problems spotting hits.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

I want change from the MOA/MOA NF that I have and go with an all MIL based.

I seems that the Razor HD is the way to go; is there a better option than the Razor HD?

This is my opinion exactly.

I use Razor HD and am very happy with it. But most every reputable scope manufacturer (including NF, of course) has MIL/MIL scopes in their product line.

I'm sure there are better options. For me Razor HD offered the best compromise between features, capabilities, reliability and cost. Your priorities may be different from mine, or you may want to spend more or less than I did...

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

It appears that all of the funtions are there that I am looking for.

Additionally, I like the price point! However, before making a purchase I would like to hear what members who are using the platform like about it.

EBR-2B reticle is the best (the only two improvements I can think of would be 0.1mRad subtends and moving the numbers to the outside of the "Christmas tree"). Turrets are great (if a bit large for my hands

), move nicely and track perfectly & repeatably (so far

. Glass in nice. Built like a tank - can double as a carrying handle.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

it would be nice if it had the push/pull locking turrets like another scope that I saw. That way they don't move, by rubbing on equipment, while carrying slung over the shoulder.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

I don't own one, but I haven't heard anything bad about it. only good...

it was also tested by ilya (the scopes, not the reticles) vs the bushnell HDMR and SWFA SS HD and it was the preferred model in that category. however, I'm not sure if it was 500 dollars better. maybe it was

I own a HDMR and very happy with it. but if I had the extra 500 dollars to throw away, I might have gone with it...

I don't think so. The turret move is very positive, it just doesn't give me a feeling of "would move accidentally rubbing over my clothing or equipment". So to me this is not a concern (and I'm willing to bet that you won't be able to change turret setting by rubbing it while slung

).

I personally would not like push-pull turrets - can't explain why, just the gut impression.

What I would really like is Zero-Stop design similar to Premiere that doesn't require tightening special screws and corresponding tools, just a level lock. But overall, I decided that the other advantages (including price) of Razor favor it over Premiere, despite the benefits that Premiere scopes would provide (such as better turret "interface").

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

Thanks for all the great information.

Looks like the Razor HD is the one! Unless there is additionall information that I should consider.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

Where is the best place to buy the Razors?

Im looking at getting a 1-4 for my MRP and a 5-20 for my MWS. Then Ill be able to switch back and forth. Thanks

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

I have an ebr2b reticle and think it is the best out there. upgraded it from the ebr2. I can spot hits quickly for corrections. It is not too busy.It is great on a long range rifle. I am a little hesitant to put one on my upcoming LMT308 project due to the size and weight as well as the tight eye relief at high power. It would look wicked though. Try Liberty optics.Scott is well respected. I lucked out and got mine from Euro optics last year as a dealer demo for $1400!! I would consider the bushnell hdmr 3x21 with a g2dmr or Horus59 for that MWS.It is the closest thing to an ebr2b reticle.

Re: Vortex Razor HD EBR-2 vs. Horus

I wish Vortex would put the EBR-2 reticle in the PST line and kept the price the same. That would be a best seller!

I would rather see the PST EBR-1 in the Razor.

The PST EBR-1 MRAD reticle is almost identical to the Razor EBR-3

The EBR-1 stadia is .01mil thinner at .04. The horizonal is unbroken at 5mil. 1/10mil grads I could care less about; Usually the target is dark and the edges to fuzzy or blurry to be of any extra value, .2mil is fine enough and its easier to add off the main stadia without the break. They are close but given the two, the EBR-1 is a tad thinner and cleaner.
