I typically carry my Springfield 1911 a-1 Loaded as my concealed carry piece. During the summer months, I've found that, while not impossible, it is somewhat more difficult to conceal than i would like. So i did some research and took a very strong liking to the Kahr family. I found a used, not at all abused, seemed to have never been fired cw40 at a local gun-shop for about 300. I bought it, disassembled it and cleaned it, and it took me over a month to get the time to go to the range. I fired it for the first time last night. First shot, and click! slide locks to the rear, i can't rack it. I hit the slide release and it chambers the next round, and bang, slide locked to the rear. I thought it might be the new magazines or stiff springs, but it kept happeneding even at the end of the 100 rounds i brought with me. I figured out that if i keep my thumb on the slide release, that it cycles just fine. so, i went home, disassembled it, and googled the problem. Turns out, that other people have had this problem also... It was a simple fix last night with some needle nose pliers... (the slide catch spring on this particular model apparently can be bent out of place during re-assambly if the user is not cautious, which i did not know and now do.)
So... here is the dilema... it seems to be cycling fine now, i have very little doubt that the problem will happen again, but, should i take it back for something else, or should i just order the new spring and strive to be more cogniscent of this spring during assembly? It shoots like a dream, i'm just as accurate with it if not more so than i am with my 1911. I love everything about it, except this issue with the slide catch, which, i've found a way to circumnavigate if it resurfaces... what would you do? i've been looking at a ruger sp101... and if i did take it back, it would likely be for that. (just for point of reference.)
