Most reviews I've read about the Savage 110BA 338 Lapua make reference to the tendency to have fliers in the 5-shot groups. Has anyone determined the cause of these fliers?

Re: Savage 110BA fliers

i am currentley shooting a 110BA in .300 win mag and the rifles are very similar from what i have seen and so far i havnt had any problems with fliers at all the rifle produces 5 and 10 shot groups well under MOA consistently as long as i dont pull any shots out

Re: Savage 110BA fliers

Looks like quite a few of the folks giving reviews about getting fliers should first look in the mirror looking for a problem with their 5 shot groups. If it'll shoot 3 or even 4 shots in a small group and then one goes out it's usually a shooter caused problem.

Re: Savage 110BA fliers

i will have to agree with you topstrap like i said before i have had no problems with fliers at all the gun shoots very well cold bore and rather hot i have fired 10 rounds throught it at a rather fast pace and it still holds true without any problem if one or more is out i have nothing to blame but myself

Re: Savage 110BA fliers

Thanks to all those who responded, I was hoping to hear something like that. I guess I'll pick one up and try it out, they look fun to shoot.

Re: Savage 110BA fliers

They are a blast to shoot. My brother has one in 338lm and the thing is a hammer. It is so easy to shoot too. I actually got to meet the guy who designed it at a scout match, cant remember his name but he is working for S&W now.

Re: Savage 110BA fliers

i do believe that major john plaster had something to do with the design and also Darrell Buell had a very big hand in it. for me i absolutley love my 110BA would have gotten the 338 but would have had a hard time affording to feed it so i went with the 300 and have no regrets whatsoever

Re: Savage 110BA fliers
