Long story short, George built these for me in 2004 and I was reluctantly (<span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">forced</span></span>) to sell them all in 2005. I had retained the records of where they went until 2007 when they fell victim to the paper shredder... So I have no real idea where they are or whom may have them now, not to mention they may have changed owners.

Now I am looking for any information that may lead to me finding them in their original or modified form. I have CA$H in hand am prepared to make generous offers to the current owners!!! Even if the current owners do not want to part with them I would still like the opportunity to talk about their experiences with them. Thanks in advance for any information that you all may be able to provide!!!

Like I said, I'm not trying to be a dick, but I don't understand that either. My first car was a POS and my first GF was a whore.... Do I remember them? Sure I do... Do I want them back? Hell no...bigger and better things my friend...

Maybe it is closure to a stage when he had to sell them and getting back those rifles is meaningful. Good luck in the search

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

Have to say I def agree with Steve on this one especially with all the new stuff that's out. ( manners stocks and the Templar action).

Although I understand the memories thing but my first car ruined my driving record an my first gf wouldn't put out. Lol.

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

I sold the first handgun I ever owned. Ended up having it come back into my shop a few years later, on a pawn. I ended up having to buy the guy a brand new one in exchange for my old one, cause I just had to have it back LOL. Sentiment can be expensive.. too bad it never adds value to a sale, only a purchase

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

Good luck with your search. I tried to locate one of my gradfathers rifles that he sold durring the great depression for my father as a present. After years of searching I finally found it but the guy would not sell it to me. It was just a simple Winchester 30-30 (valued at $500 at the most). I went from offering him a few hundred and finally stop after ofering the guy at $3,000. He had no reason not to sell it to me. He was just being an a@@. From everyone I talked to that was just the way he was. Again I understand wanting something for a reason

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

Thanks for the words of encouragement as I greatly appreciate them. This isn't about having back "a worn out" rifle, it's about vindication.

For me resentment has been like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die... Unfortunately the other person was the federal government and as we all know they aren't dying anytime soon!!! Honestly it's nothing more than wanting things back that I was forced to give up. I've have purchased numerous other GAP rifles since, there is something about those 3, especially the .338 that I haven't ever been able to let go of...

In 2004 I was given notice that I had 45 days to pay a $36K IRS tax lien or risk seizure... Luckily I was able to come up with the money and pay it in full on the 39th day. Unfortunately these 3 rifles as well as a few others were liquidated in order to meet the obligation.

After a couple of years scratching my head I decided to appeal their original ruling. As it turns out my social security number was used to obtain contract employment in the great state of California. The State of California filed a lien with the IRS for non-payment of state income tax in California.

It didn't take long to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that I wasn't working under the alias "José Blacksõn" in California and failing to pay both state & federal income tax!!!

Almost 4 years to the date after the nightmare all began, I received a very generous "settlement" from the IRS. Miraculously 8 years later, it's as if it never happened!!!

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

Honestly,
With the changes in custom rifles since the time you had to sell them.... I would let GAP build you some new rifles on their action and the Manners Stocks. It would be a better investment and they would hold their value for a long time. Spoil yourself a little after all that crap the IRS put you thru.

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

I can understand his sentiment. I've traded away a few guns that I wish I'd had. Getting all three will probably not happen, but if he can just get that 338 that haunts him, maybe that will be enough. Man, the IRS is such a joke.

I dealt with the IRS for about 8 months worth of audit a few years ago. They are the prototypical federal agancy. Full of shit arrogance and stupidity. In the end I lawyered up and requested a resolution hearing by going around my field agent and suddenly my CPA firm knew what they were talking about. They would have fully screwed me if possible and I was very honest and legal in ALL my finances. They couldn't find anything in by business so they then opened an audit on my personal finances. After that experience my attitude is F them....if they will try so hard to steal from truly honest folks using honest CPA's they can kiss my tail.

who gives a f**k what you think? You've already expressed your opinion and that's it. Do you have one of his rifles? Do you know where one of his rifles are? If no, STFU and move on!

Good luck on finding your rifles sir.

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

I accepted when I sold them that I'd never see any of them again. But the chance exists that one or more is just sitting in the back of someones safe collecting dust...

The 338 was sold to a fellow Texas resident whom I met at a gas station in Denton, Texas. I'll never forget the cold blustery night; it seemed like an eternity as I sat there and waited on him and it was the last to one to go...

These weren't anything exotic, just typical GAP builds. I also had to sell my Edm Windrunner M96 SN#40 (.50 & .338) and Perazzi SCO MX8/C Two Barrel Combo. For some reason I haven't missed either of those near as much as I miss that GAP 338...

Thanks again for the words of encouragement...

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

Good luck, I'm sure with your persistence, they will turn up. I don't know if you've tried it, but maybe post on a few other forums as well. They're out there...somewhere. Keep fighting the good fight.

Re: Looking for GAP rifles...

I had to sell the first pistol I ever owned (a Colt 1911 Govt) to buy a pistol that the department I was hired by would approve for duty carry. I know that there are newer, better guns out there, but I'd love to find it and buy it back.

Best of luck with your quest, sir.
