Im looking for places to buy quality ar10 parts besides Larue, bravocompany, etc...Any help is appreciated, my googlefu has let me down once again as it would take me on a wild chase. Thanks guys.

Re: AR10 project.

rainierarms has barrels
762sass for armalite parts
JSESurplus sometimes has DPMS parts
fulton armory has DPMS pattern parts

those are what i've used and they've been good for me

Re: AR10 project.

lonewolf - Base rifle is a DPMS LR-308, low profile upper, 24" 416 1-10 twist. 20rd Pmags.

Magpul PRS in FDE
troy ind TRX-308 12"
troy low profile gas block (.936)
surefire 762SSAL/RE

then a reputable smith to do the muzzle brake. I will not be screwed again like i was when it came to my AR15.

thanks guys I greatly appreciate it.

Google will kick your ass if you refer to your DPMS as an AR10. Besides the fact if you order AR10 parts you will see that many will not correctly install on your DPMS upper.

Check Rainier Arms, Brownells and Midway USA. Rainier should have all of your parts, but cross reference the others to price check. Brownells is great for little parts, but because of shipping I usually wait and throw them all together.

Rainier Arms also offers Mil/LE Discounts. Check their site to see the details if this applies to you.

Re: AR10 project.

For my current Mega Ma-Ten projects I used Rainier Arms mostly. The only problem is finding parts instock.

Re: AR10 project.

Rainier is local for me, I'd say call them too. Cross checking prices is a good idea. Brownells and Midway are always there too. Another local place but a lot smaller, "Surplus Ammo and Arms" (or it could be "Surplus Arms and Ammo") they have lots of AR parts.

Re: AR10 project.

I've posted this before so I'll post it again

LPK I discarded the pistol grip as I hate it and put a tango down in its place. Without using the pistol grip and MOE bottom part (the name escapes me) you could probably get a custom LPK from G&R with only the parts you need
Upper/lower uses dpms thread patter for the rail and I managed to catch it on sale last Christmas 2010 for $499 @ Aimsurplus

Granted some of these are out of stock, but just google the name of the products and hope for the best to find them in stock.

You can use a standard AR15 LPK except for the take down pins. You need different ones that mate with the upper lower you choose. For instance Armalite has specific ones that are longer than standard ar15 ones. But the MA-ten come with them installed already so you dont have to worry about that. Armalite also sells an ar10 specific bolt catch but in my MA TEN I just used the standard one with 0 problems. The Armalite one IS different dimensionally though so if you go with an Armalite lower you will more than likely need to use it.

The bolt will need to match whatever barrel extension that is installed on the barrel. I'm fairly certain there are only 2 types. Armalite pattern and DPMS/KAC pattern. If you asked me a year ago when I was researching and building my gun I could have told you the differences, but no longer.

Also whatever upper lower combo you get will need to match the rail in both thread pattern and rail height. There are at least 3 different kinds. Armalite, DPMS high profile, DPMS low profile. The DPMS both have the same thread pattern and the only difference is the height of the rail

Here is a link to the difference between the 2 DPMS types

Or to get around that problem you could hope to find a MA TEN with a monolithic rail

I'd like to hear why as well...I've ordered from them several times now without a hitch.
