Hey guys I have a striped front screw on a Remington action (308 SA). Is it safe to shoot with only three mount screws holding the one piece steel base on the rifle (one forward and 2 aft)? I plan on taking it to a smith for a 8-40 mod later on this year.

Thanks

being "striped" should not harm it. You mean like fluting?

Yes it is Mr. komifornian. Since I was the one that caused it. I have several rifles I have mounted bases on with np.

Just agreeing with you on how "Super frustrating it is. I have mounted several bases with no problem(np)in the pass. The rifle took over two years to get all the parts and build. Then I striped the scope base mounting screw in the action after it was painted.
