Rear Bag Poll

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I voted other. Triad and the others listed are very good products, but i am currently using the Tiger Valley Sling Bag and i really like it. Seems to fit me and my needs very well. Also, very well made and TJ at Tiger Valley is awesome to work with.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I voted Home Made.

I used a standard issue GI OD Green sock and stuffed it with sand and it does everything i need it to do so far.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I was using socks but my rear sling swivel kept putting holes in them! I am thinking of going TAB, looks to be perfect for what I need. On the note of rear bags, I always notice the big box stores have those rabbit ears-type rear bags. Anyone have experience with those? I was thinking they would probably great for shooting off a bench, but the capability of manipulating the bag for elevation seems non-existent, is this true?

Re: Rear Bag Poll

Love the Red Tac gear reg size. I just take a bit of the fill out to allow it to have a bigger range of size. After trying the first one I bought a second and a 1/2 size. I've been using the same one for years and I don't think I will ever have to replace it.

It fits my style of rear bag use perfectly. I hold it like a can and right under the hook of my T4A. Squeeze or relax to adjust elevation, super fast and solid.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I have always used the Red Tac bag. Obviously, I could make any type of rear bag I wanted, and I have, and in the end, I always go back to the Red Tac regular bag. It is the standard, IMO. It works in every direction, and is the most duplicated product in rear bags.

The other bags are just either too small, too large to tote around, or just goofy, IMO.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

Like my TAB. Not to mention the quick delivery from Rifles Only.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I made a couple with marpat digicam I found on sale when Joann's Fabric was going out of business; used some industrial strength thread from the same place and bought beads online somewhere. It was a good weekend project. Probably spent less than $20. Carabiners I got from home depot for like 50 cents each.

I just bought a Triad wedge 'cause it looked cool and I was ordering some other stuff. It's a nice bag.

Friends tell me I should do competitions as these are often giveaways/consolation prizes.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I picked up a Triad lil Wedge because they were out of stock on the TAB and I have no regrets. Its super compact and can actually get pretty damn high when need be.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

Voted homemade. I don't like the feel of the cordura. Too stiff feeling for me. I like the feel of the socks filled with poly pellets. I can modify it myself to my needs as well. Also the made bags I have used are over stuffed. I usually end up cutting a stitch and dumping some of the fill out.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

Issued green sock + 5000 airsoft bb's. I like the feel and amount of adjustment I can get. I am also a cheapass.

I've tried airsoft BB's but didn't care for them. They're really slick and don't grab each other, so the bag always felt like it had more give instead of feeling tight when squeezed. Walnut tumbling media works well but doesn't have the reassuring weight I've gotten used to.

Yeah I do notice that problem a little, but the lightweight bb's make for the lightest bag I have come across and with every ounce meaning less work when in my mission bag, I feel the sacrifice is worth it.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I just bought a large and small Tab after using a homemade for a long time. I like them both a lot, the way the straps are designed on the small allow me to throw it over my bipods and have protection and better shooting platform on non-conventional rests. They are built heavy duty and stitched well and whatever they are stuffed with packs nicely there is no sliding around inside the bag so I think they were worth the money.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

Same black dress sock filled with Beanie Baby stuffing that I've used since my first course.

Came about after our classmates at my first M/O course had already bought up all the 'regular' stuffing in the craft section at WalMart... so two of us decided to buy some Beanie Babies and "gut 'em out!" We sat at a picnic table behind the BW bunkhouse in Moyock, NC... smoking cigars and gutting out a whole pile of Beanie Babies for our rear bags.

It was a wonderfully redneck moment. And it's still the best bag I have used.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Re: Rear Bag Poll

Vodoo

I use these on my 5R and my SPR, and have been pleased. They seem tough and there are many different configurations between the two bags that allow many different heights for different rifles or terrain features.

My only complaint would be that they each need a handfull of additional beans or balls or whatever they have inside. They just seem slightly under filled.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I currently use a Tab but I'm on the hunt for something with a little more substance. It's very versatile and good for positional shooting where compact support is necessary, but if you're just belly down gathering data I think there are better options a la the Red Tac pillow.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

Homemade for me. Wool sock, duct-tape, lentils. Done...maybe $3?

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I'm using a bag from Skullmonkey, He made it to my specs when he did my custom sling. Chris was real easy to deal with.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I must admit I am surprised at the amount of DIY. Pretty cool though.

I also thought the Red Tac bags would be more popular.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

OK, I'll fess up. yes, i am using the heck out of my new tiger valley sling bag. but, i still have the USGI sock filled with a blastic bag of sand, and tied off at the top in my shooting bag. LOL

Re: Rear Bag Poll

In case anyone is wonderin', my sock was made here in the U.S. and the lentils are USA grown too...the duct tape is made in...China...fuck.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I like my Tacticals. They're always there, they don't seem to get in the way for positional shooting, and they make me laugh. It's easy to rest them on another piece of kit if I need more height.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

How about a TAB wrapped TRIAD?

I've had one of these on my rifle for about two weeks now and love it. And, i have to say the folks at Tiger Valley went out of their way to get it to me on real short notice, could not possibly have been nicer, and better to me. Props to them, and a great product!

Re: Rear Bag Poll

My vote went for other as there was no "do not use a rear bag" option. If i wanted something else to hold the rifle for me i would shoot BR with giant steel rests and bungie cords. lol

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I voted other. Tactical Shmooshie ( Link ) from 3 Gun Gear. After test driving one at NTRP, I had to get my own.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

Love that name. The drawstring idea looks pretty cool, seems to give it a huge range of sizes. How big is it though? I don't see any dimensions given.

Re: Rear Bag Poll

I called it the Tactical Snookie. It is big, but I don't have the dimensions. I used it prone from the ground, all the way up to a three story tower. It allowed for a wide range of adjustment.

If mine gets delivered today, I'll measure it and post the results.

Then why vote in a rear bag poll?
