Reading though Nightforce's website on the Benchrest series and the NXS. Size was the Benchrest is longer but the weight is the same. The rifle is going to be shoot benchrest or prone. Between the barrel length and weight its not something I can shoot off hand. Both are 8-32x56, so its not comparing total opposites. Yes I'm just starting off in longrange shooting.

Re: Difference between Nightforce Benchrest and NXS

The BR scopes usually offer a couple of different reticles and have 1/8 MOA adjustment values. They, IIRC, all BR models have 56MM objectives.
You can get the NXS with high speed turrets (allows more MOA per full rotation) and zero stop (allows zeroing scope and locking the turret so it will return to true zero).

NXS- side focus, exposed turrets, reticle choices
benchrest- adjustable objective, capped turrets, reticle choices

Yea, I forgot about the difference on the focus and capped turrets.
I'd say if you're going to shoot something like long range BR or F Class then get the BR model. If you plan on varying distances then go NXS. BTW, if it matters, you can now order the NXS with 1/8 MOA adjustment.

Re: Difference between Nightforce Benchrest and NXS

Thanks Gentleman. Looking for something else I stumbled across an article on Accurate Shooter forum that compared the 2 scopes, had some additional points.

The side focus requires on the NXS uses an extra piece glass, which reduces brightness over the optical adjustment. The NXS is a more rugged scope, which for hunting is a plus. They point out about zero, however on the Nightforce's website, they comment about "reindex to zero after adjustments".

Theres almost a $600 difference, a big part is the illuminated optics which I just noticed when I checked the pricing. One other point is shooting from prone position the BR is harder to focus, not sure if thats a biggy,

Anyone have something that would be a big reason to stay away from the BR version. I'm not a hunter, plus my rig is going to be far to heavy to hunt with anyway.

Pretty sure that both the BR and NXS models all have illumination.

I recommend the NF NXS they are one of the most solid scopes on the market.

We are a dealer for them and I think we have some 8-32x in stock.
