It looks like the fundraiser shoot for Corbin's family is a go. For those of you who don't know Corbin, here is a link to his families story/blog. Not only are we going to have a match, but after for anyone interested, we are going to have several class III items for people to try out including an HK12 and an MP5SD. We are still working on the dates, but it's looking like it'll be in late April or early May.

As of right now we have a couple potential sponsors, but we could always use more. If you guys know anyone who might be interested in providing prizes or donations please let me know so we can get a good count of everything.

Thanks for your help gents.

-Cory

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot

Ok gents, the shoot is going to be on Saturday, April 14th at the same range that last two shoots have been at.

The format for the match will be as follows:

Beginner Match: 5 stages, mostly what you have seen before, but with a few fun changes.

Advanced Match: 5 stages, mostly what you have seen before, but with a few fun changes.

Charity Match: 4-5 unconventional stages where you donate a certain amount per point you earn (i.e. if you donate $0.10 per point and you earn 200 points you then donate $20). There will be actual legitimate prizes for those who score well in this match donated by our sponsor High Desert Tactical.

After the charity match we will break out the class III weapons and go to town.

I have never directed a fundraiser before so any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot

I think after this match we are going to bump the last two finishers back to the beginner group, and if you finish 3rd from last two times, then you get bumped back down. This is to keep things interesting and to keep the advanced guys rotating in and out.

I'm also thinking it'll take a top 3 finish in the beginner COF to get into the advanced group or, 2 consecutive top 5 finishes. What do you guys think?

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Put me on the advanced list this time, and two other's for the beginner.

Thank's Cory!

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot

I like that idea. I know i didn't do to hot last match. but its tough when there is only 6 people ha ha. I like the idea of earning your spot, and if don't do good back to beginner ya go! Ill take my score and roll with it and try to out do my self next time. Always good fun!!! no matter what!!!

I think it may take a bit of time to see how promoting/ demoting goes. There are a few variables that might need to be adjusted for.
ADVANCED - 1)How many advance shooters show up. If you have a max of 10 advance shooters and 4 dont show up for the match all 4 get bumped down to beginner and the 6 that showed stay where they are. No shows forfiet there spot. IF they all show up you send the bottom 2-3 scores down. Depending on how many beginners you send up.

2) Anyone falling below a certain % of total score drops back to beginner no matter how many shooters it is. You could always adjust that % based on difficulty and weather conditions for that day.

You could also make the advanced group 12 max and plan for 12 but expect a few no shows each month.

BEGINNER- 1) If beginners dont get at least a certain % of the total possible score for the beginner shoot they shouldnt qualify to move up to advanced even if they place #1. (that % of total is what needs to be figured out and of course could change depending on the difficulty of the beginner shoot)

2) top 2-3 shooters move up no matter what just to fill in the 10 shooter count for advanced.

There are other ways to figure it also but it starts getting more complicated and you dont need that. Im sure it will all work itself out in time.

Still trying to decide on how to do this for the Price shoot too.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot

I think I got all you guys up on the shooters list. Let me know if I need to change anything.

Rocca, those are good points. Maybe we can have a discussion with all the guys at the match on the 14th and come up with a plan.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot

TSUshooter: Thank you for the info. I'll be sure to pass it along.

SNAGLYTOOTH: Thanks for the prize table submission! Should I put James down on the shooter list?

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot

Please put down RRY and TB to compete.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Good to go gents. I'm juggling a few things while putting this match together, so I appreciate all your help in making sure I'm doing everything right. Don't be afraid to speak up if I make a mistake or do something stupid!

Also, we may have a few people show up who want to shoot that don't have a rifle, so would anyone here be willing to bring an extra for these people to use?

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

I'll shoot the advanced... can I reserve the shooting position next to RemOperator
;-).... Good spotter!

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Rocca, that would be awesome. I have a hard time getting down to Springville so I would really appreciate you doing that for me.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Correct me if I'm wrong but based on what you've described as the way you plan on running these matches, it appears that you have to earn the right to shoot the advanced course. So you can't just ask to be put in the advanced group. Everyone starts in the beginner for at least their first match. Is this how you intended it Cory?

Here is a quote from the last match thread on here and facebook:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: BlakWhiskey</div><div class="ubbcode-body">It seems there has been some confusion as to who will shoot the advanced group and who will shoot the beginner group. I have them separated that way not to harm or bolster anyone's ego, but to keep the match flowing efficiently and safely. Obviously the advanced match will have a more difficult COF, but that does not mean that the beginner COF will be a cake walk, especially under match conditions. In order to free up room in the advanced group I will move myself to the beginner.

For Clarity:
As stated on the first post for this match, the advanced group is for those who have finished in the top 8 of our previous matches. The week before the match, if there is room, those who want to shoot the advanced COF who havn't finished in the top 8 are welcome sign up for it. This will obviously be on a first come first serve basis. Also, on the day of the match, if someone doesn't show who has signed up for the advanced group, a shooter from the beginner group can take his place.

Please let me know what you guys think. </div></div>

As we get more and more people shooting the advanced matches we will have to limit the field by increasing the standards and circulating people out who score poorly. I haven't exactly figured out the exact details on how we're going to execute this, but we will know for sure before the match on the 14th so everyone is prepared.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Hey Cory are you in need of any more steel target's?
I have about 5 rimfire size target's that i am willing to lend for the match's.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Action Target rimfire dueling tree
1 stand with 2, 3"x3" steel plate's
1 stand with 2, 3 1/2"x 3 1/2" plates
2 other stands with 4, 2 1/2" round swinger's on each stand.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Perfect! I think we could absolutely use the dueling tree for this match! I'll keep the others in mind when for the future matches if the offer still stands. Thanks!

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Cory,
I have that 22 KYL rack we used last match. Plus 2", 3", 4", 5", 6', 10", and 12" round AR500 plates. 2 man size head targets that are also AR plate. a 12x12 plate with a 4" hole in the center with a AR plate behide it that swings up when hit (with a center fire rifle, don't know how much it would more with a 22.)

Chris

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Thanks for the clarification Cory.

BTW, not sure if you saw my post on the FB page, but I'll mention here again: I've got two 18" steel rounds, and one 24" steel round, both made from AR500. I know, a bit big for shooting at these distances with 22lr, but it you decide you can somehow put them to use, I'd be glad to let you use them for one of the 22 cheapskate matches.

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Awesome gents, thanks! Chris, if we could use one of your KYL rack again and one man sized head that would be awesome! I'll keep all those other targets in mind for the next shoots. You guys rock!

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

You mean we get to shoot both their ball's!?

Re: Utah Cheapskate Charity Match/Shoot April 14th

Cory,

If there is enough room for one more......
