Are there stupid question?Lets find out.I know on a mildot the spacing goes 200 =7.2" 300=10.8" 400=14.4". 500=18" What are the 50yard measurements?what would the spacing between 250yrds 350yrds 450yrds 550yrds?Is there a formula?

Re: Mildot measurements

You answered your own question. Just do the math.

You already know that 1mil subtends to 7.2" at 200 yards so...
7.2 / 200 = 0.036

Just multiply your desired yardage by 0.036

450 * 0.036 = 16.2"
550 * 0.036 = 19.8"

The actual formula is:
Height of target (yards) X 1,000 = Range (yards)
/Height of target (mils)

Re: Mildot measurements

So if my drop is 32 3/4" at 450yrds.Impact should be very close on second dot?I know there is no substitute for real dope.Just trying to figure some holdovers on my build without wasting ammo.

Re: Mildot measurements

That will get you close, but you really need to plug your data into a ballistics calculator.

JBM Ballistics is online and free. You can set up columns that will tell you how many mils to dial and/or hold.

Lots of other options out there if you have a smart phone. Look at iStrelok. It has a decent ballistics engine, but the hold-over outputs for different reticles is excellent.

Re: Mildot measurements

Or, you could divide 32.75 by 4.5 and get 7.278 (and change). Then divide that by 3.6 and get just slightly over 2 Mils (2.021604938371605 to be exact). I think your 2 mil hold will be fine.
