Alpha Industries .308 magazines

I was hoping that someone can help me with a question regarding the Type 1 and 2 .308 magazines from Alpha Industries.

I am currently running a M40A1 from Tactical Rifles and I was wondering which magazine works with that rifle. Any advice would be appreciated.

If your rifle uses AI style bottom metal either will work. If you aren't handloading, and handloading for max OAL, get the type I's

The Type II has a 2.9" inner length so it allows for loads with a longer COAL. However, if you're gonna run em long, the feedramps will need to be smoothed down by a smith so you don't jam the bullet into em. If you're gonna load to SAAMI spec, the Type I's are just fine.

I intend to stick to factory loaded rounds for now, in particular the Federal Ammo 175gr Sierras.

The info given above is good. I run the type 1's. I load my rounds to 2.80" OAL. The type 2's are for people that run a longer overall length.

Well, after a ridiculously fast delivery from Alpha Industries I can confirm that the Type 1 magazine works awesome in my M40A1. So much so that I just ordered 3 more.

Thanks for the advice on this matter and kudos to Alpha for their outstanding service.

I have 5 of the type 1's that run great!

Love that they are SS in hot humid salty FL that is nice
