I did a little searching and came up with little to nothing, so I thought I would make a new topic.

Are there any precision rifle competions in Nebraska or South Dakota? Both states have good country for shooting, but very few long range shooters.

Re: Nebraska? South Dakota?

I grew up in the Black Hills and my little brother still lives up there, I don't know of any matches in South Dakota, but the WTRC is just a few hours drive for my brother who lives in Custer SD. The match is just outside of Gillette Wyoming.

Ernie, are you the pistol guy? I think we met you up there before, my little brother worked with your shooting partner.

Re: Nebraska? South Dakota?

Yes.
I will have a different partner this year.
Wayne has moved to OR.

I think I also saw a picture of you on the McRee site doing something with one of his "pistol chassis" We got to meet Scott this year at SHOT, he stayed with one of my shooting partners when he was in town and I picked up a LH chassis from him.

Looking forward to the match up there, is it pretty similar to the old ITRC course of fire? We didn't make it last year, I saw that ITRC was cancelled and/or moved and by the time I realized it was going forward under the WTRC name it was too late to get all of the logistics figured out.

Re: Nebraska? South Dakota?

There are quite a few tactical matches in sd there is one in pierre that the south central hand gunners put on its in august this year long range and run and gun courses. The sd fun gun shoot has a long range and run and gun course as well as a head to head bolling pin pistol shoot. There is the m&m tactical match south of draper sd long range course goes out to about 1300 yarxs and between a half and a mile ar and pistol course. Me and a friend put that one on down on his ranch we take 40 shooters and it costs 100.00 for both corses there is a thread for it on this page

If you're a pistol shooter, Spearfish has action type pistol matches (various sorts) every other Sunday, this next Sunday, the 15th is an ICORE match.

I would be conducting a CMP GSM Clinic and Match in Newcastle WY (just across the state line on Hwy 16, on June 2 and Aug 18th.

If interested in eigher or both of these PM me and I'll get you the information.

Also Google Aliance NE shooting, they have all sorts of matches but I forgot the name of the club.

I'm from that part of the country, currently stationed in NC. I am really looking forward to retirement so I can get back.

Eastern Nebraska Gun Club puts on some very good precision rifle matches. Matches are midrange, generally @ 600 yd, 3 x 20 shots. This year, F-Class matches will be held separately from the other disciplines for the first time. Below is a link to their website and events calendar. You do not have to be a member to participate in the matches. Their facility is located about 20 mi southwest of downtown Omaha.

There is no shortage of long range shooters in Nebraska, I'm sure that South Dakota is the same way. I grew up in Western Nebraska and most of the guys I grew up hunting and shooting with were quite adept at long range shooting and showed an interest in long range marksmanship. Until I moved from Nebraska I never really needed to find a club to shoot at. I had several friends and relatives who had thousands of acres available for shooting long range. I'm sure many of the long range shooters in NE benefit from similar circumstances and feel no need to join/form clubs. I worked at the gun departments in the Sidney and Kearney Cabela's stores for over three years; trust me, there are plenty of guys buying serious long range equipment and using it.

There is a shortage of long range clubs and I would love to see that change. You have Alliance in the west for long range, Weeping Water and Eastern Nebraska Gun Club in the east for XTC High Power, and numerous smaller clubs throughout the state where you can shoot out to 600+ but not as part of an organized competition. In the past there have been High Power competitions at the National Guard site in Hastings as well.
