Hi folks,

there a quite a few members from this part of the globe.

Would be great if some of us could meet up some day, shoot together, share knowledge or check out the equipment for comparison.

Some folks on here are stationed in Germany but have no private guns to shoot with. If someone close to your base is willing to meet up with you guys, you'd have the possibility for some recreational shooting.

Sadly, I live in the northern part of Germany, so I am out of this game.

If I get the opportunity to meet up with some guys living outside of Germany for some long range shooting I'd be thrilled.

Now let's see how many members from "old europe" chime in...

Cheers,

Andreas

Re: European SH members UNITE!

Hi all,

I live in Sweden and during fall-winter-spring I compete in what in Sweden is called "Fältskytte" which translates into Field shooting. It is a military kind of shooting from the beginning but today it is pretty much like your normal sport shooting with dehumanized targets (although the outline still is kind of humanesque for some targets, the 1/4 H V is for instance an enemy machine gunner crew with shooter and loader in the background).

A competition normally consists of seven different stations located in the terrain with unknown distance targets (100-650 meters) and you don't know what targets to shoot at before you reach each station.

Once in prone position, you have one minute to range the targets using reticle only and adjust scope for elevation and wind. When the minute is up, you have approx 45 or 90 seconds depending on skill level to shoot six shots at your target and each hit equals one point. Most hits win the day.

Until recently, the competitions were only open for one of three rifles (predominantly the Sauer STR) and with iron sights and sling support only. Thanks to some lobbying scoped rifles of almost any kind are now welcome.

Here are the targets we shoot at (Mått=measurements in millimeters, Avstånd=recommended distance):

If anyone would like to visit Sweden and compete, I'd be happy to try to make that happen. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Regards Marcus

Re: European SH members UNITE!

I live in Stockholm but we have field shootings in all parts of Sweden, Skåne (southern parts) as well so with the ferry from Travemünde, you are in country in no time. :)

I'll take a look at dates for shootings in Skåne and get back to you.

What rifle/caliber do you shoot?

Re: European SH members UNITE!

I got a custom bolt-action rifle chambered .308 Win.

Travel to sweden ist not an issue, have to apply for the EU firearms passport, but I am too lazy right now, have to renew my ID card, too

Re: European SH members UNITE!

Hi all,
I started to look for this thread with the same intentions.

We have some nice ranges here, but the longest is 375 meters (still nice shooting, though).

I saw some of the Field Shooting competitions on video and it looks pretty hard.

I would be interested in shooting in open setting, outside of a formal range, if it is possible in Europe.

Re: European SH members UNITE!

Everyone is welcome to visit us in the U.K

We are resident inside Bisley Camp and have ranges out to 1200yds, with McQueen Sniper practices once monthly.

Anyone wanting to visit and/or shoot during any Bisley meeting including the McQueen (Impperial Meeting), please just P.M me and I will do all I can to assist.

Re: European SH members UNITE!

HI all,
I want to pass info on great competitions.

1) Long Range 600-1000 m
This match is usually a 2-day event: Friday afternoon training, Saturday morning competition. Two divisions: Standard and Magnum.
The competition involves shooting:

2 targets (standard bull's eye and human silhouette) at 1000 m with 10 rounds each

1 steel plate at 1000, 900, 800, 700 and 600, 2 rounds each

2) Tactical 100-700 m
These matches are more "tactical" and involve shooting targets actually from 25 m to 700 m, from different shooting positions, in a time limit, after exertion (run etc.).
Some of these matches are 3-gun matches: sniper rifle, pistol and either semi-auto carbine or shotgun. If you don't have either semi-auto carbine or a shotgun, you can borrow it in-place.

In fall there will be a 2-day event called "Extremo". It is a competition for 2-men Teams, both shooters.
The first day is from early morning shooting from 25-700 m, different settings, including night shooting (illumination by flares, spotlights and torches). It is a very long day on the range.
Next morning you get up very early (like 04:00) and you have 15 minutes to get ready (rifle, equipment and Ghillie). Your task is to advance in 2-men Teams towards 3 areas, from which you have to engage targets. During the advance you have to avoid detection. The "enemy" were Air-softers, but they were really good, mostly military anyway.

Last year I took part at all of them and it was great fun, the organizers are doing a great job. The ranges are open-country setting, so no traditional berms on either side, simple wind conditions etc. There are no limitations as to what you can use, in other words: use whatever you need to hit the target - monopods, bean bags, tripods, any scopes are allowed.

The matches take place on 2 ranges (ex-military) in Slovakia, near Czech-Slovakian border. We have guys from Czech, Slovakia and Austria coming and we would love to see more people. Accommodation available.

Let me know, if you are interested and I can post some pictures or more info. The schedule will be available soon. But starting March you will have at least one of them taking place each month.

OK,..lets do it? I will gladly host and organise a SH competition shoot at Bisley.

I will also offer to organise accomadation/storage of firearms and deal with all the visitor permit requests for those bringing rifles.

If we get enough interest then it will happen.

Re: European SH members UNITE!

Will be at IWA Nuremburg, this Saturday.

Anyone wants to meet up fire me a line soonest.

Re: European SH members UNITE!

Looks like my old thread is still alive. Glad I could kick start some activities.
I moved to southern Germany, east of Stuttgart.

I'd be interested in long range training, I only shot on distances up to 300m.

Italy, Austria, France...all "close by" for me now. England not so much.

Some of you have updated information concerning thé sniper compétition in Olomouc for 2013?
