How far could I shoot this rifle to?

Ok guys here the story about to pick up a LWRC REPR in the 16", I was originally going to go 5.56 but came across a really good deal. I am going to use this gun for 0-600ish yards realistically, if I were to use glass that was for farther distance and some FGMM ammo what would be the realistic distance I could shoot out to? Basically with the 16" barrel I am wondering how far I could shoot out to if I did my part.

You can 'shoot out' to however as far as you like. Whether your shots will be accurate or not is a different story. With a 16" barrel, you won't have any issue ringing steel at 600yds.

You might feel it's a little underpowered especially if you're looking to stretch your rifle's legs. It depends entirely on what you want to do with the rifle. If you're looking to ring steel out to 600 then you'll be OK, but if you want to do precision work or shoot groups you'll probably want something with a bit more on the high end. NF 2.5-10x would be where I'd look, or even in their 3.5-15 line. If you hunt around in the classifieds you can probably find one for around $1400.

Depends on how good a shot you are. A good trigger will help also.

Based on the velocities my buddy's 16" REPR makes I would think it decent at 600, fair at 800 and all over the place @ 1k...assuming you are a decent shooter.

The 2.5-10 nightforce would be a better choice. Also look at the bushnell HDMR. Better reticule, FFP and more power but weighs about 3/4lb more.

If you have $1400 to spend and you aren't in a hurry to spend it, keep your eyes on the optics for sale and you might be able to snag yourself a nice pre-owned NXS.

I am in no hurry to buy optics as I wont have the gun for a couple of weeks. This was how it originally was supposed to go, I was going to buy M6A2 SPR in 5.56 for 0-600ish yards duty. I then came across a 16" REPR for a smokin' deal, I just couldnt pass it up. Originally I wanted to use an Aimpoint H-1 with a magnifier for longer distances but I am not so sure how far that combo will let me effectively reach out to. So I remember S&B has a short dot that would probably be a good compromise (this is what I am thinking, not positive though). I dont want to spend $2700 on an S&B though so I was looking at possibly a Leupold or a Nightforce 1-4. I know that running .308 ammo isnt cost effective compared to 5.56 but this is going to be a general purpose rifle for me. I dont and never intend this rifle to be accurate past 7-800yards. I would have bought a higher end optic and the 20" REPR model for that. Just a little info for you guys to help me out, thanks.

I was running a 1-4 vortex pst on a buddys rifle last weekend. we shot steel 45% idpas out to about 500 but stuff out past that got pretty challenging just due to the magnification. Id go with more magnification if I were you, it would help alot with target id and spotting your splash out at distance.
