Yep, 600-2500ish yards. Saturday April 7th in Ashfork. Shooters meeting at 0800, $40 entry fee, limited to 20 shooters, stage rules will be discussed prior to each stage, COF will be 50rds. Please email me if you are going to attend as we have to limit the number of shooters at [email protected]. If you have already called or emailed me, you are in. No caliber restrictions. Be prepared to shoot from improvised shooting positions. All targets are steel. We will have the normal monthly AZPRC match on the following sunday, camping will be allowed onsite for free.

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

Looking forward to this shoot plan on me and my old man showing up gonna be fun!!!

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

3 more days until the ELR match. Looks like 3 spots left for that match. COF is set and the long target is set at 2456yds. Wind will determine the winner.

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

You need to do the next one on a Sunday, Saturdays I just can't do.

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

Sounds like fun, I would like to run the .50 through its paces some time at a match like that. If you guys do this again I will try and get out, we have our local match on Saturday, but maybe I can make the next one. Have fun guys!

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

We are working on the next one depending on how well this one goes.

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

Sounds good, you guys will have to post up some pics, Looking forward to checking it out. I need to do some work on my current setup to get out that far, at 2100 I am fully maxed out on elevation and holdovers on max power with the NightForce, have to turn the magnification down to double the subtensions, then it starts getting difficult to see the target. I am going to look into running my USO on the Barrett to see if I can get a little more elevation to get out there....Looking forward to seeing some pics and I hope I can get out to the next one!

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

Here is the COF for the ELR match. That way everybody can see what they are in for.

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

Thanks Brad and whoever else set up those big heavy plates! Also a special thanks to Christopher for using that super accurate GPS too. No 2456Y steel? As if 2356Y isn't far enough,LOL.

Definately thanks to Carl and Bob for setting up the steel. I do not know how we would have done this without Christopher and his 10cm GPS unit. Thanks to those guys for their help this last sunday setting up. We did have one further and decided to move it closer. Next ELR match will have targets to 2500ish and 2 new shooting positions.

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

Looks like a lot of fun. Good luck everyone. I'd be interested in knowing what cartridge the guys were shooting. Brad would that be a bid deal to add to the final score? Just interested.

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

That was the most interesting shooting weekend I've ever had!

Thanks to "all" who made such a fun weekend possible! Special thanks to Garth for letting us use your steel plates for the ELR! Sure makes me happy to live where I do and am able to enjoy such a fantastic shooting venue so close to home.

What great bunch of guys to hang with too!

Brad, I bet you were worn out? I hope you had Monday off to relax some. I was tired and all I did was tote a rifle and backpack around and pull the trigger.

If anybody saw a coyote brown rear bag around after the shoot, it's probably mine.

Re: AZPRC EXTREME LONG RANGE MATCH 600-2500 YARDS

Man the elr was a blast thanks brad even though I got smoked I tell u what will not be using the Barrett without some match ammo the frenchy ball ammo just didn't cover it lol I would of been better off stickin with the 300wm. If we continue these elr shoots I think I see a 338 rum in my future and good shooting sat and Sunday Steve. not to many people can say they get to shoot out to 2300 yards...

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

Brad I also want to jump on the band wagon and Thank You and everyone else involved, It was an great shoot! The venue was excellent, the stages challenging and met a awesome group of shooters. Congratulations Steve, my only question is when is the next match?

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

Thanks Nicko and JTG.

I was surprised noone showed up with a Cheytac for this match.

Yep Nicko, that was a match better off shot with a accurate bolt gun.

You shot well JTG! Come out for the regular match sometime too.

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

Brad,

As an ELR enthusiast, I'm very interested in events like this.

Could you post results with rifle/caliber? Who won?

More pictures from the event?

Any other details from you or anyone else who shot the match about shooting positions, course conditions, wind, temperature, logistics, etc. would be awesome as I find that to be the most difficult thing about shooting a new match is trying to get a handle on what to expect. Especially if I'm going to cross the country to shoot it.

thanks,

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

The shooting course is awesome it's in a flag stone Cory looking down off a ridge all positions average 8 degree Downward shooting off big flagstone slabs with one prone position the da in the day averages 8000 - 9000 with 5 to 10 mph constant breeze most of the time but the wind can really pick up out of no were sometimes. This time of year temps vary 80 to 100 on the hotter days Camping is usually no problem with prior permission the targets vary in size on the elr match targets are from approx 18 inch @ 1200 yards and go up to 4x8 1 inch steel plates out to approx 2400 yards callibers vary from 300. Rum to 50 cal most of the time every one shoots the targets for fun after the match. If your in to extreme long range shooting this is the place all the shooters are great people and you could not ask for a better course for elr this course Is absolutely perfect hope I helped with some of your questions brad is a great dude to get hooked up with and azprc is awesome.....

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

Thanks for the info nicko.

8-9000 DA has gotta help. Thanks especially for the course description. From the photo I was imagining shooting uphill onto a mountain. A little different visual representation.

4'x8' 1" steel? I'm guessing you don't use a half-ton pickup for those.

Anybody know what the winning score was? What percentage of hits are you guys getting at those ranges?

John

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

Jrob 300 this was the first elr match and I don't no exactly what the % ratios were Steve123 won the competition if u pm him I'm sure he knows his hit ratios. The azprc.net web site is down being worked on but there is lotsof pics on there if u just be patient and check on it once a week it should be up and running soon. If u look at other treads form azprc there is some pictures also floating around from other shoots.. What. Caliper rifle do you shoot elr ?

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

Thanks nicko. I'll pm Steve.

I have been shooting a 300WM for ELR, but I'm bouncing around the idea of something bigger. Just not sure if the payoff is there...

John

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

Steve123,

Could you tell us what you used ( Rifle, caliber, ect.)?

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

JFI, forgot to get you guys the gun info from the ELR match.

Quite a few 338 lapau, AI, REM and I believe a TRG.
One REM 300 RUM, one 30-375 in a TRG, one barrett, REM in 300 WM.

I will post some pics tonight if I get time of the match. We started with a 1760yd cold bore. Then had 10 minute stage to engage 6 targets with 3 rounds from 1956 to 2360ish. Next stage was 5 targets with 2 rounds each from 720 to 2200. I know I am missing something but everything is a blur right now.

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

I shoot a 300wm at our regular comps which the max distance is 1200 yards the 300 wm works fantastic for that I have tried my 300 on the elr targets and 1 mile(1760) was about max practical distance the 2200 yard target the 300 wm just falls on its face and goes to shit. But ther is a guys shooting 30 cal but they are using ulta
Magnum type rounds etc... And i think Steve even won with a 30 cal cartridge but they are shooting them at higher velocitys and at that distance you need that extra velocity to keep the bullets from tumbling. The 300 win is usable but probably not the best chose for these distance. It's 100% worth coming out and trying your 300 and then go from there on ur next build after watching the other rifles and getting a good idea of what your rifle is capable of...

Re: AZPRC Extreme Long Range Match COF UPDATED w/ pic

nicko,

we can take this offline if it gets too lengthy, but what are you shooting from your WM? I've gotten good results to 2296 with 208's @ 2900 fps and I have a 22" barrel. That's at 6500 DA too.

I was shooting a custom SurgeonXL in a wildcat cartridge called 30-375RPR based off the 375 Ruger case. 230 grain Bergers at 2960fps with Retumbo is the load I'm using.

old pic of my rifle. I have a Bushnell/Horus HDMR/H-59 reticle atop now.
