Anybody got any pics of an IOR modified mp8 reticle? Specifically the 3.5-18x50 one with the illumination on? Having trouble finding anything on the net...

Re: IOR Valdada Reticles

I'm trying to get an idea how thin the lines are for an mp-8 reticle in a 16x42 fixed power. All I've seen are drawings. Anybody know?

Re: IOR Valdada Reticles

I have the 10x42 and love the reticle. I used it for a sniper school last year and it worked great. It tracks accurately and the glass is nice and clear, even better than some more expensive scopes in low light. Only downside so far si the turrets are a little slow to zero due to the weird double screw caps. Whatever you do don't thread the screws all the way out. My reticle looks identical to the one in this review:

Re: IOR Valdada Reticles

Isn't the reticle in that review an MP-8 dot. I'm getting a 16x42 which has the same reticle as the 10x42. I didn't think it had the dot. I wish it did though, but I can't afford one of the newer style IORs right now. Some of the pictures I see of the reticle make it look real thick. Mostly I'm just going to use it for benchrest. You think it's thin enough for that? I keep hearing about those screws. Hope they ain't too much of a pain.

Re: IOR Valdada Reticles

You're right, mine doesn't have the dot, i missed that in the pics. The lines are pretty thin compared to mil-dots but a little thicker than the super fine line benchrest scopes ive seen.

Re: IOR Valdada Reticles

Yes, my reticle is identical, line thickness and everything. Only difference is my in my reticle the line continue across each other in the center instead of the dot.

I really like the reticle, i the line thickness is just enough to still be visible in low light, but fine enough for precision.

Re: IOR Valdada Reticles

Did you IOR arrive and if so what did you think about the glass quality? Any comments you have or comparisons to other glass would be a big help.

Thanks

</div></div>Yes it did. The windage knob is a bit harder to turn than the Elevation knob and I like it better. Both of them are good, it mostly just bugs me that they are different. They are both very positive.
The only scope I can compare it with is the Votex Viper 4-16x50 PST it replaced. With the PST on 16x I could barely see my 308 bullet holes at 100yards. Not terribly clear and sometimes I would mix them up with other with marks on the paper. With the 16x42 IOR the holes are very clear along with everything else. I aimed at a foxtail weed at the end of the 200 yards range by where the tagets go. It was wonderful to see all that definition just watching it gently blow back and forth. It made me feel like I could have shot it. I would never have tried that with my PST.
I was concerned with the reticle being too thick. If it was up to me it would be slightly thinner, but it's not thick. I shoot at very small targets and it doesn't cover them or make me feel like it's an issue.
Overall I think it was great scope for what I do. If you're just shooting at stationary targets at relatively long distance then it's a great way to get terrific glass at a lower price.
I was glad I bought it from Scott@LibertyOptics when it didn't arrive on the day the tracking said it was supposed to and I started getting worried because the tracking said it had been in the same spot for days. I called Scott and he said that if it wasn't there the next day to call him and he would take care of it and get me my scope. Naturally it came the next day(crappy priority mail tracking), but it was reassuring to know that Scott wasn't going to leave me hanging.
I think it's a great scope. If I had it to do over I would buy the same scope again. I hope you find this helpful.

Re: IOR Valdada Reticles

+1 on Scott @ Liberty... Can't really give any input on that fixed 16x but I got my 3.5-18x from him and he really has some of the best service I've seen anywhere. Seems to be a straight shooter good prices and good service. Not much more you can ask for.

</div></div>So did you buy one? Did you get something else?
