I am having a custom rifle built to shoot the 180 Berger Hybrid out of Nosler brass. I have a Forster Co-ax press. What dies would you use- I'd like to go Forster or Redding. Do i need the willis collet resizer? Do I need a special seater stem for that bullet? I'd like to shoot the162 amax as well, so will stick with a micrometer seater so I can change bullets quickly.
What 7RM reloading setups are y'all having success with?

Re: 7 Rem Mag guys- What precision dies are you using?

Wilson hand dies.

If I remember correctly, I had to send in a fired case for them to make the sizing die.

Re: 7 Rem Mag guys- What precision dies are you using?

I run both Redding and Forester. If you buy the Forester, you're all set. If you buy the Redding, you'll also need to buy a VLD seater

I also bought the collet die because I needed it after three firings. Some guys don't need it. I'd wait and see what happens with your particular tolerance stack.

I run 162g A-Maxs for now. Retumbo powder works great. I'd recommending trying some

Re: 7 Rem Mag guys- What precision dies are you using?

I use a Forster Micrometer seater. Redding bushing neck die, and Redding body die. The Lee collet neck die works quite well also.

Re: 7 Rem Mag guys- What precision dies are you using?

I use redding type s fl die, Larry Willis collet and the rcbs gold match seater.

My last barrel I only used the nosler brass but switched to Winchester when I rebarreled. Just like everyone says, the nosler was real consistent per lot of 50 but would vary greatly between batches. I like to load a bunch all at once and not do it again for a few weeks so I switched to the Winchester brass and sorted 200 similar weights from 300 pcs of brass. Granted I had to prep them but that's not too much work. I also anneal after each firing. Good luck with the new set up.

Redding body die

Lee collet die

Wilson seater

Light turn on the necks of Norma brass

No Willis die; several 7RM chambers and never needed one

Makes very straight ammo for me

Re: 7 Rem Mag guys- What precision dies are you using?

These are my 7mmRM notes on what I have, how it measures and what I do:

A) Lee collet neck die with stock mandrel 0.283", but collet, collar, and mandrel nose have been polished
B) Bonanza FL die honed out to 0.307" neck
C) RCBS neck sizing die stock neck 0.304"
D) Forster FL die stock neck 0.302"
E) RCBS FL die stock neck 0.300"

A) Bonanza sliding sleeve competition seater die with seating stem orifice de burred.
B) Lee dead length bullet seater die
C) Bonanza standard seater die
D) RCBS standard seater die

SAAMI spec on chamber neck is 0.317" to 0.319".
SAAMI spec on chamber headspace to belt is .220" to .227"
SAAM spec on pressure is 61,000 psi

The loaded ammo neck is .309 to .313", with the 180 gr VLD more likely to be .309".
The load ammo headspace to belt is .210 to .215"
The loaded ammo max pressure long life minus safety margin is 72,000 psi

7mmRM 162 gr HNDY SST 3.34" 62.8 gr H4350, 2950 fps, 26" barrel 2010 Hunt
7mmRM 180 gr VLD moly 3.48" 70 gr Re22, 3025 fps, 26" barrel 2010 Hunt
7mmRM 150 gr NosBT moly 3.4" 66 gr H4350 3250 fps 26" barrel 2011 Hunt

Typically I reload by:
Vibrate in Walnut
Separate from media
Tumble in stainless steel media
Separate from media
Dry
de cap with Lee decapping die
put Imperial die wax on the outside of the case
Size and set back shoulder .001" with honed out to .307" FL die
Prime case
Charge case
Seat bullet with sliding sleeve seater die

I remain convinced that the 7mmRM is an optimum cartridge for me for long range hunting.

Re: 7 Rem Mag guys- What precision dies are you using?

I'm using a Forster bushing bump die, Larry Willis die and a Wilson in line Seater in the arbor press.

I like Forster dies more than all the other brands.

One of these days I'm going to get a co ax too!

Re: 7 Rem Mag guys- What precision dies are you using?

I love the co-ax. Get one Steve I bet you'll like it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, and especially Clark for the detailed post. Think I'm going to try the Forster bushing die, and the micrometer seater.
