Here are some pics of 2 rifles I had built by William Roscoe. The first I got back about 7 months ago and the second recently. One is a 30/06 with Manners T2 and a 22" Krieger barrel built on a Remington action and painted by me. The other is a .223 with Manners T2 and an 20" ABS carbon wrap Rock barrel built on a Defiance action. William painted that one multicam. He can build a hell of a rifle but as you can see he sprays pretty good, too. Both have Surgeon bottom metal and for trigger the /06 is an old Remington and the .223 is a Jewell. Both are finished with his usual attention to detail and both shoot lights out as I have come to expect from Louisiana Precision Rifles. Excuse the pics...I am not much of a photographer.

They are both sweet looking rifles.

Beautiful rifles. How does the .223 shoot?

Bill, it took me a little while to do something with the barrel, accumulating parts, but it turned out nice. William and I both knew the whole build would depend on the barrel and whether it was done well in the turn down/wrap process, so we were hoping for good results. Ended up being the easiest gun I have ever worked up. I had a solid smoking group after working up just 4 sets of 5 rounds each trying to get a feel for the gun. Here is 5 shots at 100yds with 75 amax's over 24.5 gr Varget .010 off the lands. I get the best stuff from you Bill and thus avoid your posts unless I am in a buying state of mind.

Very nice! I have seen carbon-wrapped barrel on Ruger 10/22 .22 builds but had no idea they were making them for anything larger than rimfire calibers.

I just got back from the range shooting a pair of .308’s William built & painted two years ago – he is a perfectionist and you can see it in his builds.

Christensen does them all the way up to .50 BMG. I handled one at shot show a few years ago......very very light, actually too light for a .50.

I'm really digging those camo jobs. I'm gonna have to order a rifle from William one day, stand up guy. He helps a lot of people around here, contributes a lot to this sport.

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

I am very fond of the 223. I had one built as my trainer but it is one of the most accurate rifles I have.

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

I like the camo on both rifles. Very nice.

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

Thanks for the kind words. The /06 is very accurate but the .223 is something really amazing with the best load being a real testament to what LPA puts out and hard to shoot more than .5 moa with several loads tried in the gun. The camo on the /06 is a base of OD cerakote and then sprayed with stripes in brown. Sponge some beige on the brown and some black on the OD...all with Alumahyde II. It is washed out some in the pics but in person it is pretty good and blends well with most anything. It is the pattern I put on everything I paint. Here is another couple crappy pics that show it a little better:

Nice looking rifle you got there. Heard a lot of good comments on his building but it looks like he's getting the painting down pretty well also.

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

forgive my ignorance, but, what is the hinged knob off the left side of the scope between the rings?

I have seen it on a few other pics, and don't know what it is.

best guess, is it a rest for turret manipulation?

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

It is a USOptics anti cant bubble level. It just has the protective hood on it.

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

    ahh, thank you.

those are a couple great looking shooters btw

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

I'm very impressed with both of your rifles, especially the .223. William is extremely hard to beat, and I would personally put them up against any in the world. Congrats, and enjoy.

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

I just received a text with video from Greg. His 9 year old son is shooting the 223. Hopefully he'll post it up when he gets home.

The content of the text and video truely is why I build rifles.

Re: A couple rifles from Louisiana Precision

Took the .223 out today to test the load at distance and my 9 yr old tagged along because he won't miss a chance to shoot. It didn't disappoint and after I grouped it he got in the drivers seat. Here is a video of him shooting a full size torso steel at 700yds. I have had the gun long enough to work up a load and he already thinks it's his gun. Amazing how well they pick it up and have the ability to really understand what they are doing and why with hold offs and form at a young age. Like William, the kids really make it worth while for me hunting, fishing and shooting. Thanks for another flat out hammer William, well worth the wait.
