For those that have a forster case trimmer, lets see some setups on how your using it.. I bought one a few months ago, and got the power adapter (for drill use), and also bought their 3in1 cutter. I have not had a chance to use it. I would like to see what kind of different drills you are using whether its a plug in drill, cordless, or one of those small rechargeable hand held screw drivers that have the same bit head for the power tool adapter.

Re: forster case trimmer

I've been cranking mine by hand for over 30 years. I noticed a couple of years ago that mine is getting a little dull when trimming .308/30.06 cases (not cutting cleanly and the brass is hard to pull off the pilot). I need to find/buy a new cutting head. Still works okay at .223 though since it hasn't done near as many of those cases (not being as crazy about accuracy in my ARs as I am with the M1A and M1 I bought a Lee trimmer set to do those a year or so back).

I do have mine screwed to a small flat piece of wood that I c-clamp to the bench top when I need to use it and then remove it/put it away under the bench when I'm done.

Re: forster case trimmer

I just take the handle off mine. Chuck up the threaded portion in my corded drill and go to town. Lot faster than turning it by hand. I'll get around to getting the drill adapter some day.

Re: forster case trimmer

My brass rarely stretches much and all I do is a quick cleanup and chamfer. If I need to do any serious trimming (like range collected brass), I take off the 3-in-one head, readjust, and use the main cutter as it is 10 times faster getting the case down to trim spec (and induces less work on the neck since it is only cutting one dimension and using the whole surface area of the cutter, not pinching it between the angled bits on the 3-in-one head). I do all my brass, then I reset it with the 3-in-1 head and chamfer all the brass.

Just cleaning up and chamfering only takes a few turns so it would be harder and more complicated to use any kind of power adapter.

Mine is screwed to a 1x12 plank and I clamp it to my bench.

Re: forster case trimmer

Mine is screwed to a small block of wood just a little larger than the base dimensions. I clamp it in the jaws of a small vise I have bolted to the edge of the bench, and slide the garbage can underneath it to catch the brass cuttings. I use the hand crank without any power attachment.
I cut a piece of foam rubber to fit an empty Sierra bullet box and lined the pilots up in holes in the foam.
Everything goes back in the box and back on the shelf when I'm finished.
