Finally got to do a bit of shooting this evening for an hour or so with a 3-day old REPR...

Configuration:
Sotech SSP on the Sopmod B5 (which I'm kinda liking) for a grippier cheek weld - velcro'd and lashed.
Geissele SD-E trigger
Ergo Deluxe grip (which I'm also kinda liking)
BADass ambi selector, seemed appropriate since the Repr is somewhat ambi
AAC 51 tooth brake and N6
Atlas bipod
Surefire/Gear Sector
Trijicon TR24 1-4 with German #4 dot reticle until the Mark 6 1-6 CMR-W comes in

Took some Santa Barbara 147 grain, Southwest 175 grain, Blackhills 168 grain HP match, and FGMM 168 out with me. Zeroed the irons at 50 yards with 147, then zeroed the TR24 at 50 yards with the same ammo. Moved out to 100 yards and got about 3 inch group average with the 147. I was studiously lubing and turning the Gas Block selector every 5 rounds, basically, as instructed by the OM as a brief break-in for the selector knob. I've got a serious case of gamer's thumb from working that gas block knob. That sucker needs to be gnurled. So, that part was no fun, but the one time that I forgot to turn it back to Normal after removing the can it DID fail to fully extract the fired case - so the suppressed setting actually does reduce pressure. My A3 has been set on S since I got it, with and without the can, so I didn't know what to expect with the REPR. It really does need N for unsuppressed shooting, though - which pleases me, since that means it really is reducing the pressure it allows when set on S. Nice.

Back to shooting: Function was flawless other than my lapse in returning it to N setting without the can. Zero gas face. That is huge. The brake created just enough blast to remind me that I wasn't shooting a 5.56 off the bench, but when I went prone at 200 I was amazed at the dust and debris that baby kicked up. On went the can...

At 100, off the bench with a bipod and pinch bag (OK, but not rock solid) and a TR24 German #4 dot reticle set at 4x, the Black Hills printed about 2 inches, the Southwest printed about 1.5 inches and the FGMM turned in a solid .75 moa 8-shot group. Kindly leave out the two flyers that I pulled which turned it into a 1.25 moa group!

That was fired in two 5 shot strings which were separated by a couple of the other ammo types. When I went downrange and saw how well the FGMM did, I went back with the hotter barrel and tried another 5 rounds - boom, same place.

At 200 yards, group opened up to 1.75 inches if you leave out a flyer on that one - flyers are a common theme with my shooting. Get used to it.

In addition, my AAC 762SD N6 has a POI shift of 2.5 inches straight up. That pleased me, as well. I confess that I was in a hurry by that time, and forgot to remove and re-install a few times to verify that the POI shift was repeatable. I expect that it is, based on a couple of other AAC cans that I have (or had.) Will check that next time.. The one quick group with the can and 168 FGMM at 100 yards was .84 inches. I'll get a better feel for the can's affect on accuracy over the next few weeks.

The Sotech SSP on the stock definitely helped keep my sweaty cheekweld from slipping. That worked great - now I just need to rig something similar on the SPR that doesn't interfere with the charging handle.

More pics and info as I get to shoot more in the next few weeks...

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Great looking rifle, pity you can't see more of the spiral fluting.

Good to hear you are happy with it and got one that shoots quite well. Seems like these REPRs are hit or miss (no pun intended) in regards to accuracy as you saw on that other thread.

Enjoy your stick and keep us updated as you learn more about your rifles abilities.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Clean the gas knob every 200 rounds and you won't have any issues with it.
I just turn mine once during a range session and never shave any issues.
I run mine bone dry now.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Beautiful rifle. Wish I had the coin to drop on one.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Nice gun! Im getting a 16" REPR in the next few weeks too, how far can you or do you plan on shooting out to with that glass?

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

I'll probably be trying to hit steel out to 500 with that TR24 in a couple weeks at the Larue Multigun, but the Leupy Mark 6 that is in the pipeline for this rifle will make that a bit easier in the future. It'll probably become available a few weeks after the multigun, of course!

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Love the licorice-look! How much weight was it supposedly reduced?

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Slapped a buddy's 10x optic on the REPR (fixed 10x SS in Larue LT-104) and tried again at 200 yards with the 168FGMM. No suppressor, warm barrel.

With the flyer, 1.742 inches center to center.

Without the flyer, 1.180 inches center to center.

Not sure on the REPR? On the 5.56 SPR they quote a 20% reduction in barrel weight. Probably about the same on the REPR barrel, but actual numbers I don't have.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Nice group. You have winner as well as a looker!

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Thanks!

You know what I find interesting..... threads entitled "LWRC REPR issues" gets post after post, but a thread about a REPR that doesn't have any problems and is shooting under MOA dropped like a rock.

Post up a rifle that disproves the "pistons are inaccurate.." line and nobody touches it...that's pretty funny, right there. Preconceived notions, anyone?

Too many folks see a REPR not grouping and blame the rife, not the ammo, shooter, optic, etc. All the usual suspects that they would mention when someone has trouble getting a DI rifle to group...

If your criteria is absolute 1/4 moa accuracy, then the OBR, Noveske, JP, Gap stuff might be for you - assuming you find what it likes and can shoot to that level....which is a big assumption.

I never shoot for groups except with a new rifle or a new optic. Most of my time, I'm offhand or pinched to a mesquite tree/fence post. My emphasis is on MOA accuracy, utter reliability (not to say the DI's aren't, but lube lasts longer on my LWRC rifles) easy to clean once in awhile, and adjustable gas block with a "closed" position - but especially dealing well with the grubbiness, heat, and added pressures of suppression. With my list of requirements, the REPR suits. It's also doing basically half-moa at 200 yards...just sayin' is all.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Here is your love.....and remember every one loves to see a train wreck...change the title to " REPR blows up" you will get 1000 posts, lol

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

I'm sure that's true!
smile.gif
Uh-oh...you probably just started a rumor about REPR KaBooms. I'll be fighting that one for years...

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

You know what's really amazing? No one came in here and said anything about pistons being "inaccurate" or "unreliable" and yet you're still coming to the rescue...

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

You bet. As much misinformation as there is out there about these rifles, born of ignorance and blind led by the blind, that I decided to post this one up just to give folks the benefit of some positive feedback. Sounds like you might have needed it.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

that is one great looking and shooting 308 AR.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

My gas knob was pretty difficult to turn when I was braking it in. LWRC makes a tool that fits its' odd shape perfectly and makes it 100% easier. I also put some Kroil oil in there and it is now perfect.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Mine is still a little hard to turn when it's hot, but feels normal when cool. I'm gonna get the tool, just to have on hand.

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

CR, an 18mm socket works great!!!, tapping the knob with a rubber hammer works too....

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Nice rifle. How far out have you taken it so far?

Re: New 16 inch spiral-fluted LWRCI REPR....

Just to 200 on paper. Closer to 600 just watching impacts in a cotton field...not very scientific, but it gives me a rough idea of holdovers. I wont be able to do much better before the Larue Multigun.
