I'm gonna be putting a new stock on my 700 and I want it to have a detachable magazine instead of the hinged floorplate. When I was looking at the B&C stocks, the detachable magazine assembly costs more than the stock itself!

Any suggestions?

Thanks again guys

Re: Remington 700 Mag Conversions

Most people here swear by the Badger and other DBM, but they cost so much more and then you still have to have your stock inletted for that DBM. I really really like the B&C Tactical Medalist stocks. I personally would put Wyatt's DBM on there. It is basically a drop in assembly and shouldn't need any inletting. Plus, you can get them both from Stocky's Stocks and have them assembled and shipped together. That'll at least save you some shipping.

That's just my opinion. I'm sure you will soon have dozens of other suggestions about which bottom metal to buy. But, just about all those other options will be more costly. I know ... you get what you pay for. But, a B&C stock and a Wyatt's is still a pretty good set up.

Honestly, I have no idea why they DBM cost so much anyway. There's very little machining invovled compared to an AR15 upper and lower. But, I can get an upper and lower for and AR for 85 for the upper and 125 (with lower parts kit) for the lower. I just don't understand why the simple DBM's cost so much more (without the magazine).
