OK, first let me say that I have not served in the military, but this PC shit is really staring to piss me off!. Just watched a segment on Fox news about some atheist groups filing a law suit about a memorial with two crosses on a hill at Camp Pendleton. It was erected by some Marines to honor some of their fellow fallen members and is way back in the base. It is obviously a place of honor. I know, I know 1st ammendment rights cut both ways but this just really pisses me off! I'd love to see the a-holes who are against this try to get past the Marines to take it down. Again, I did not serve, but I would be there to defend it.

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

First Amendment rights cutting both ways means it's up to the "atheists" to tolerate the Christian practicing their freedom of speech with these symbols and STFU.

Free Speech does not mean no speech, it means we tolerate all kinds.

If we want to enjoy the right, we have to pay the price of others being able to enjoy theirs.

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

Amen to that. I hope the Marines tell them to shove it up their collective asses!

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

Next they'll try to ban tax dollars for the chaplain corps and places of worship on military posts. I guarantee it!

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

I heard this a couple months back on the Mike Slater show on the Patriot channel XM radio 125. A caller had a GREAT saying. He said we have the freedom OF religion not freedom FROM religion. Also, what makes more sense: a person believing in a God he cannot see or hear or an atheist being offended by a God he doesn't believe in?

Former active duty Marine here(once a Marine always a Marine). Stationed at Pendleton from 89-91, screw these ppl and their wishes. Thanks to every service member past and present their able to voice their opinions and we can voice ours.

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

I would like to see that segment. This shit pisses me off! Fucking pot smoking, animal rights, hippies and narrow minded atheists. This is just another one of those situations that go both ways.... Over and over I have heard full blown Christians try to push Jesus and God into other people's lives that lack faith, but with this particular situation the atheists need to just STFU and suck a dick! Those crosses are more than just a symbol of religion! They honor all the fallen Marines that gave all they had for the United States of America and all of the people in it, not just in Iraq and Afghanistan, but each and every war where Marines and soldiers have died. Everybody just wants to be heard..... whatever happened to just sitting back and enjoying the life you have without trying to change other peoples' beliefs?

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

Yeah, folks in San Diego have their heads on backwards. They pulled the same shit with the memorial at Mt Soledad. First it could stay, then 9th district said it had to come down. Crazy. Religion aside, this is about fallen brothers. No frickin respect for the sacrifices of the military, a military that provides so much revenue in that area. Maybe the Navy should just move all the bases to LA or Oregon and let San Dog rot.

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

Judges, damn liberal judges and those pussy ACLU fags arn't any better. PETA had a table set up near gun show i went to last year and the girl asked me if i knew what PETA was and my answer was yes i know what PETA is and stands for. people eating tasty animals. her jaw dropped and i went on.Rant over.

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

That is the 3/1 Memorial behind Horno. That is a big deal and I have hiked to the top of that hill more than once to honor my fallen brothers. Whoever doesn't like that can gripe all they want but getting rid of it I don't think will ever happen.

Re: Crosses at Camp Pendleton

The legal argument is that the US Guvmint property should not be used for placement of religious symbols of any kind.
Separation of church and state and all that.
The argument that is being made in favor of keeping cross is "historical symbol".
The same reason "in god we trust" has been on paper money since 1957 and sporadically on US coins since late 1800s.
Imo, its a bullshit case by a few marines who have never seen combat...cause there aint no atheists in combat.
