Re: 300 win mag pics

Hi Guys ,

I lkie the Badger M2008 actions , they are very nice , the fit of the bolt in the raceway is very close fit , as such , I would not get the bolt body painted ( blued yes ) , as its then too tight to operate , if that makes senes .

I live out side the US , in New Zealand , and most Americans will not know how the cost of exporting rifle/actions etc has soared to crazy heights ( read , insane ) .

Three components to that increased costs ,
1) Export fee has gone from $50-80 that it was in say 2003 , to $350-500 , so about a 300-400% increase , NICE
2 ) Also a value fee of around 5-10% of the cost of the item ( this was not the case in 2003 , no added value charge at all ) .
3 ) The shipping charge has doubled , from the old bulk airfreight charge to courier airfreight charge .

SO if you have not figured it out , its now quite simply NOT a very viable option to buy stuff from the USA any more .
Your GovT has imposed those extra costs on your exports .

Thats why you have German & Czech & Canadian made AR15 rifles , US make the best and cheapest ARs in the world period , ( its ONLY due to your added export costs that AR & Rem700 clones are now made outside the US ) , and IF the US did not charge these crazy export prices , they would sell lots of ARs .
The rest of the world wnat to buy US rifles etc , but as the price is too high , once you add the Export costs on to your purchase price , its just not that viable any more , it never use to be that way , but it is now .

SO I see the Badger as a cheaper alt to a real AI rifle , and thats just in the USA , once you get outside the US , the extra export costs actually put a Bagder actioned AW clone type rifle at close to the AI rifle price , and at that price point its never going to work out as a really viable option .

Later Chris

Re: 300 win mag pics

I love that sendero, i bought a PST about a week ago and am looking for a sendero in the 300WM. trying to pick a good starter gun, then do some work to it or find one with some done already. What all do you have done to this? and for a newb what would be highly suggested doing first?<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: green338</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Nice collection

Re: 300 win mag pics

Thanks Desert-Rat. I just need to cerakote my rings coyote tan and it will be done. I had a set of cerakoted Badger 306-20 rings on but they were too short for my scope cap to go on and had to order the 306-21s.

I would say get a brake installed if you will be shooting more than 40 rounds at one given time. Then work on the trigger (I got a 510 Timney and love it at 2.5lbs) then a Badger Ordnance oversized knob and well a bipod is a must have. Ammo I would recommend reloading just because of the price on match ammo. I shot the group I posted @ 100 yards with Federal 180 SP ammo. Its alright but for long range it will not work like match ammo does. I shoot .5 MOA with my reloads and thats a 220gr SMK bullet running out at 2830-40 FPS.

Thanks! I love that stock. It's rock solid, easy to adjust and I feel real comfortable behind it. I like it so much to where I've ordered one for my 308. The shop I go to is called Drew's Precision Reloading located in Hesperia, CA. They painted the stock, did the bedding and final assembly. The metal work and triggerguard inletting was done by a guy named Wayne who is a friend of Charles, the owner of Drew's. I haven't done any groups yet but have shot a couple of 1,000 yard matches and my best score so far was 243 out of 250 with 10 Xs with factory Federal Premium Gold Metal Match ammo

Re: 300 win mag pics

Sorry for the late reply.

I have been off the site for a while.

The stock is an A5 Mcmillan in OD green. The action and barrel are a DuraCoat that a friend and I did a number of years ago, also in OD, just a different shade that we mixed up in his shop(garage).

It seemed to have turned out pretty decent all things considered.
