I am trying to figure out what stock I want. I am between an A4 or the HTG. I have always liked the looks of the M40A1, so it has me leaning toward the HTG but dont know how much the A4 would help out. Are there any advantages to the A4 for long range, that the HTG will not provide?

HTG has a low comb, notice most all of them have cheek pads or built up with foam and duct tape.

The A4 is not for me, it's too blocky, but it may work well for you.

If I was you I'd consider something in the A1-3 realm for a more traditional feel or a A3 for a tactical stock.

In my opinion, traditional stocks are garbage. Almost every gun is easier for me to use with a vertical grip orientation. Shotguns are the only iffy ones. I hate revolvers simply because of the grip.

Vertical grips on precision rifles are a big plus simply because they allow you to apply rearward pressure to seat the rifle to your shoulder without having your shooting hand slide back and down the traditional grips.

I find myself having to actually grip the stock in order to prevent my hand from sliding down the grip. It tends to make my shot placement a little erratic.

Re: Stock choice, unsure which to get

I much prefer a vertical grip stock as well. For me it allows a more comfortable, relaxed hand position, and it makes it much easier to get a proper trigger finger placement/orientation.

Yea that's what I was thinking, but just keep going back to the HTG just out pure lust

Sounds like your mind is already made up. Just go with the B&C Medalist M40 stock to save the money while you get it out of your system and upgrade to the A4 after youve had your fun. Keeps ya from breaking the bank while you lust lol

I was set on a MCST (similar to HTG) for the longest time. I ended up going with a T2 (more vertical grip) and I liked it. But I eventually bought the stock I had a hankering for, the Manners MCS T, and would never go back to the T2. I really got used to the vertical grip of the T2 and didn't expect the T to be as comfortable, but I figured I'd get it out of my system anyways and try it out. I ended up loving the T and selling the T2.

Buy the HTG...
