C1A1 FAL Value?

I am looking at getting a C1A1 FAl in good condition and the guy is asking $700 obo. Just wondering if this is a good price or what the average price for one of these are. I have seen the CETME go for $500 but I am not too familiar with the C1A1 specifically.

The C1A1 was the nomenclature for the FAL issued by the Canadian Armed Forces. There aren't a whole lot of them floating around. Are you sure it's a C1A1 or is a Century Arms build?

A quality C1A1 build with Canadian parts is worth considerably more than $700. A Century Arms isn't, they have developed a hit or miss reputation regarding quality (like most Century builds). If it is indeed a Century I would apply that $700 towards a DSA or a quality build by Arizona Response Systems or another known FAL smith.

I paid $475 for mine 15+ years back, good running gun, metric mags were a bit harder to find. even chopped 6" off front end and installed a brake (clipped reciol springs 1/4" at a time until it ran good) (now it didn't drag on the ground)

sold it to get good optics on DPMS 308 - still miss it a bunch

If it's a real Canuc reciever it's sear cut and worth about $3k.

as USMC said, the big question is wether is is a Century build or just a century imported receiver. any other markings on the receiver?

I have a C1A1 embel century imported receiver....I got the rifle years ago and before I ever took it out A fairly well known FAL smith at that time took it and complete went over the gun, refinished it and put is name/stamp on it.

He also toold me, if you build a AR wrong, it wont run. you build a FAL wrong, it can kill you.

My other Century buys were complete garbage rifles....never again will I get a century rifle.

A Century FAL right now in decent shape is easily worth $700, I say go back and get it.

If it turns out to be a gem, you got lucky and rich, if its not, you can still make your money back and THEN some, probably get $800 easily and fast.

As far as CETMEs go, those aren't FALs, those are HK G3 forerunners, and you can't really get them for 500 anymore, the Century CETMEs are running closer to 650-700 now.
