The Ballistics Calculator - Android phones

Re: The Ballistics Calculator - Android phones

I use Strelok. I haven't had much time to really test it, but when I plug in the same numbers/parameters on Strelok and JBM (website), I get nearly identical info (within .5MOA to 1200yd or further some times). JBM I have used with success, so I would expect Strelok is fairly accurate as well. Easy enough to use once you run through and figure how to work everything.

Re: The Ballistics Calculator - Android phones

I use Strelok along with Wunder to get the local weather etc... and like GlockandRoll said it has out me close enough to JBM I am confident in it. Nothing beats real world data but when that is not a option this gets me pretty dang close. Also a good one to have with you is GPS Status & Toolbox.

+1 Shooter.

I picked up the Shooter App and am running it through and IPhone. I've also been reading Bryan's Applied Ballistics Book and there's so much info in there! I don't know what the other ballistics programs use for atmospherics and BC's but from reading Bryan's book and poking at the Shooter app, I'm pretty confident it's probably one of the best if not the best one available.

yes I'm old too</div></div>

If you buy say an Iphone off eBay, you do not have to have phone service as long as your app don't require you to use the internet. If you have internet service at home and you have a wireless router/modem you can load any app on the Iphone. Outside of the house you will not be able to use the internet to download any other app unless you are somewhere where there is free WiFi. But once the app say bullet drop or mil dot just open it and your good to go. </div></div>

You should be able to use an iPod Touch instead of an iphone - those do not require any cell service, certainly. Also there are tablets out there that dont need service either and can still install apps... just a thought.

Re: The Ballistics Calculator - Android phones

Alot of talk about Shooter and Strelok here... Has anyone out there tried "Applied Balistics"?

Curious as to it's performance and any experiences people ou there may have. So far, I'm leaning toward shooter. Dont mind paying the 30 bucks though if it's worth it.

Applied Ballistics is an form of Shooter with added features. A collaborative effort between Sean Kennedy and Brian Litz.
IMO the dope graphically placed on the reticle feature alone is worth the added cost.

Interesting, I didnt know that nor is it on the android app page.

I think I'm buying Brians book, as I hear its an excellent learning tool for external balistics. Seems only right to get the matching software.

Any other opinions out there? I know everyone here has one :)

Can you stop shooter from auto automatically inputing weather data?

In the settings at the main menu (Little dial like icon to the right of the "Add Firearm" button), uncheck "Automatic Atmosphere". Will that correct your issue?
